Le Manoir de Brendel

Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. Really great staff. The outside/property area is very beautiful as well. I just don't think the place is worth the price, and I can't understand why they would advertise this as a 5 star property. The rooms look like they are from the 80s or 90s - decorations are just very, very outdated and the room just smelled old (but it was clean). The bathrooms are very outdated - not even close to a 5 star property. They also charge for bottles of water. At a 5 star property you should at least give 2 bottles of water included per day. There was also no wifi in the area with the rooms (again, shouldn't be labeled as 5 star) and even when we were in the main house area the wifi wasn't working well enough to look things up in our email. To be completely honest the price should have been about 1/3 of what we paid for how it is now. If they renovated the rooms to be more in like to 2019, and they added basic amenities like Wifi, they could potentially justify charging more than about 1/3 of what we paid.

We booked the hotel through hotel.com, when we arrived at the hotel, we were not even welcome. The lazy staff lady informed us that the Hotel is closed, then she said its fully booked, when we said we have a reservation, she said they do not accept same day booking. However, anyone can book via their websites and any booking platforms for the same day and it clearly said check-in time is 2pm-7pm, we arrived at 5pm to the Hotel. Not even a word of sorry, nor any email about this matter. We were not even allow to enter the gate, we were turned away from the intercom system.This is the worse experience i ever had. Do not even go to this hotel, there are so many nice place around Franshoek.

This was our second stay at Manoir de Brendel and as always we got a warm welcome from Charmaine. Prior to our arrival they booked restaurants for us which was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious and the free bottle of wine was and added bonus. We will certainly stay there again if we are in the area.

Getting tired several maintenance issues

The front of the property does not do justice to the quality of the establishent but our stay was very relaxing in the main house with loads of character. Breakfast outside was a delight and staff uniformly friendly. Nice grounds and pool; nothing else needed!

Our garden suite in this old converted vineyard property was very spacious, well appointed and had its own shady verandah, ideal for a leisurely afternoon. Reception and other staff were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast in this B&B establishment catered for most needs. Le Manoir has pleasant grounds with opportunities for walking in the surrounding vineyard. There is a good swimming pool. The hotel is conveniently placed, 5 minutes drive from Franschhoek and near many vineyards ( including La Motte with its excellent Pierneef restaurant). We found Le Manoir to be very peaceful but it is a wedding venue which may affect noise levels on occasions..

This beautiful and well appointed Manor House and suites offer a peaceful haven in the wine region. The staff provide exceptional service and the owner is extremely helpful. Our breakfast was served on the terrace/garden overlooking a lovely small chapel.
