"Excellent"

8.0

It was a decent hostel, clean, fairly comfortable, lots to see in a short walk and fairly easy to get to. It was a 15-20 minute walk from the train station on the Main Street through the old city. The staff we nice. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. We would be happy to stay again.

"centrally located, all necessities, charming"

10.0

This location is in the medieval area of Salerno, with charming narrow streets, not far (short cab ride) from train station, waterfront, and ferry docks. We stayed here 3 nights as we visited Pompeii, Paestum, and Amalfi and Ravella, and also spent some time in Salerno enjoying the crowds who come to shop on the weekends. The room was newly furnished in modern style, maid service was excellent, and all was extremely clean and well maintained. The breakfast was adequate (continental style plus coldcuts, cheese, cereal, and yogurt). The reception staff were very pleasant and eager to help but the staff changed every day and some were more knowledgeable than others about local transportation and attractions. It is not quite a full service hotel (we could not get an extra pillow) but it is a very well staffed and equipped hostel for all ages, with wifi, a computer room, television lounge, etc. It is a former convent with a charming courtyard, with plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy breakfast or the wifi there (as well as indoors). There is an excellent elevator but there are 2 or 3 steps you have to navigate from the courtyard before you get to it. The rate we paid was 55 euros per night but there may be a discount for hostel members.

"Friendly staff, clean, - mind the pigeons!"

8.0

I stayed for one night in a single room waiting for the ferry to capri. Hostel in a converted convent. White interiors - white corridors very soothing. Hostel very near to ferry within 5 minutes. Very friendly young staff. I went for a meal with one of the workers and another guest. There is a great courtyard with a bar in the evening. The building is amazing in the historic part of town near to the sea. Not a great beach and neighbourhood quite run down in parts but not threatening. No maps at reception. breakfast ok/buffet - Pigeons stole my croissant off the table as I was eating breakfast in the courtyard. Good value for money would stay again.

"No frills, but good and cheap accomodation"

10.0

I loved the location, smack in the middle of the historic centre with beautiful seaside walk 2 min down the road. It is an old monastry and the decor reflect that, it's spartan but has all you need. Beds are comfy, shower powerful and breakfast what you can expect in any italian hotel. If you are a light sleeper, bring some earplugs, because due to the location there are bars and clubs in the area that attract young (and sometimes loud) people. We have booked it again for our next trip!

"Horribly noisy! Take ear-plugs with you!"

4.0

I was staying in the single room. The hotel is conveniently located, but part of the rooms (not all of them) face a very noisy street. Unfortunately the windows and doors did non provide a proper noise insulation. The bed was ok, although a bit too hard. The personal was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was cheap and simple. At 5 am some guys were leaving the hostel and could not keep their emotions silent... Despite all the effort of the personal, I did not sleep well, that's why so low overall rating.

"Overpriced for what you get"

6.0

We needed just one night in Salerno as we did not want to stay in Naples. The 55 Euro price for a double room was in our opinion overpriced. Positives: Good location, very friendly staff, nice views from 4th floor rooms, clean Negatives Beds were extremely uncomfortable, wi-fi did not work from 4th floor, overpriced If you have the option stay in Amalfi for nearly the same price.
