The property is stunning. It's quiet, secluded and the views of sunset are unmatched.

You have to drive there, there are no taxis and private drivers are expensive. The road to get up is tight, but once you do it, it gets easier, we had no problem with a full size SUV, it was just intimidating.

The Borgo Mocale is in an isolated and elevated postion giving beautiful views of the valley below and across towards Chianti. Eating breakfast on the hillside terrace was a real treat. The breakfast was substantial and included eggs cooked to your preference. We had a two bed, two bathroom apartment in the 'tower' which had a roof terrace with great views. The bedrooms were a good size and very comfortable. The good sized bathrooms had shower, basin and bidet. The combined kitchen diner and seating area was a good size and comfortably rustic. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant on site but an evening meal is available 2 or 3 times a week on the breakfast terrace which we enjoyed on our first evening. The owners were happy to recommend and book restaurants for you which is essential in August. Parking onsite is down some steep stairs but you can unload the car at the entrance to the property. We would love to stay here again.

The kitchen facilities were limited to a hob and sandwich toaster so cooking a full meal would be a challenge. It would not be expensive to install a standalone microwave/combi oven and that would transform the 'self catering' aspect.

No dislikes - a true hidden gem!

The owners and the staff were welcoming, kind, and amazing hosts. The place was beauiteful and the food was great. We would definately recommend this place to anyone - also children😊

Building was built in the 1300s and it was like a stone castle of sorts. The hosts were amazing and had live music 2 of our 3 nights. Our room was maybe the cleanest room we have ever rented, nothing out of place. The hosts, Julio and Antonella, were amazing and tended to anything we needed. The views were amazing. There is a nice pool and was an awesome pace to relax and have a drink and meet other guests. Breakfast was included and they prepared anything you wanted and got to enjoy it sitting on a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the olive groves.

Friendly personal touch of a family operating guest accommodation as part of their family home. Shared spaces such a lounge, inside and outside dining and other facilities. We also felt part of a wider community with friends brining in produce for meals.

The natural environment surrounding the property should lull you into holiday paradise mode, but really it’s the Power of the Woman in charge here that infuses it with charm. Antonelle, (the Matriarch of this warm, love infused family owned establishment) will go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Antonelle’s husband and son were wonderful as well, explaining to us the history of the region as well as practical information we needed during our stay. I’ve traveled around the world and am hard pressed to recall a time when I felt the degree of genuine hospitality I felt while at Borgo Mocale. The same level of care that is put into each physical detail of the property, from the beautiful locally made glassware on which meals are served to the ornately woven textiles covering the cushions adorning the music room, is put into the welcoming of guests. I very much look forward to returning in the near future !

Very nice and calm, authentic food, great breakfast, excellent infrastructure and many things to do and see. the d’amicos are very open, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended!
