The Angel Inn, Stoke-by-Nayland

The food was exceptional, including the breakfasts. Our room had everything we needed, including a free standing bath, and was super comfortable.

This was an excellent overnight stay in very comfortable and spotlessly maintained surroundings. It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the service and the restaurant justified the expense. The ancient village inn had been completely refurbished in a charming and elegant style. The restaurant menu was a gastronomic treat - inventive and creative cooking in a stylish and intimate environment.

The room was very clean, comfortable and stylish. The bathroom, recently re-fitted, was superficially impressive but not very practical: a high-sided Victorian-style bath, not easy to access, and a glass shower cubicle with a door that didn't close properly. Although the restaurant food was excellent and creative, the table service was sometimes un-necessarily fussy and pretentious.

This was a lovely place. The staff were excellent. The restaurant was fabulous. We will return for sure.

The bathroom needs a towel hook near the shower/bathtub. More counter space is desperately needed near the sink.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff, who were all young, were polite and efficient.
