Jacaranda Hotel

Outside of the building was very scruffy and dirty as was the entrance which was full of boxes and advertising leaflets. The stair carpets and hallway ways need a deep clean and hand rails could do with scraping off and re varnishing. The room was so small i kept knocking into the corner of the bed when i walked pass as there was a chair there and no where else to put it. The cleanliness of the room was poor too, the kettle was dirty a lot if things in the room felt tacky. There were marks on the duvet cover, black mould around the bottom of the shower, the radiator in the bathroom was dirty and rusty. There was a fan in the room that was full of dust also. The floor in the bathroom had a large dark mark on it. Coat hook broken on the back of the entrance door, the bathroom towels had bleach marks on them

the room was lovely and big. the bed was big too as a single occupancy i expected a single bed. The bed was very uncomfortable, the sheets smelt damp and smokey, certainly not fresh. The room was at the back and i stayed 3 nights being woken up by seagulls from 3am... so not the bnb fault at all. i came to relax, but i didnt. the towels could be bath sheets, not hand towels shower was great i would stay again but at the front.

Jo is a lovely lady who looks after her customers really well ..She puts on a great breakfast in the mornings with a really good selection .

I was on the top floor ..I knew this when I booked , but it was very hard work to take my baggage up and back down as I do have leg and foot problems and unfortunately Jo is suffering herself atm with knee problems so it wasn't fair to expect her to carry my bags even though on arrival she did try to which I really appreciated. Despite this, this was my only 'problem ' I had on such a great stay .Jo is very helpful in every way that she can be and never rushed me vacating my room ..I did it at my own pace which I was very thankful of.

The noise of the seagulls till all hours of night and at 5 in the morrning not there fault tho ..and the stairs was a killer to walk up top floor with 8 suit cases and 2 kids would of been better if kids were down lower floors as one of up stairs windows opens fully and could easy fall out

The lady that owns the bnb is the loveliest person that simply can not do enough for you to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as it can be, the food was generous and excellent and the location is perfect a few minutes walk to the town and the beach and also the train station.

Out the front looks tacky and unkempt with cigarette butts Hallway needed a good Hoover Lack of interaction with hosts: the only time was when a lady answered the front door to hand over my keys and tell me where my bedroom was (no introduction, no information, no niceties). The second time was an apology from a man smoking on the porch and blocking the exit. No other contact during my stay. At no time was I offered breakfast despite the website, booking.com and board at the front saying they do breakfasts (I’d emailed the property weeks before coming about breakfast and got no reply) looking at past reviews they used to offer a form to fill out the night before with your breakfast choice, this was not provided to me. Filthy shower with black mould on the head, under the soap holder, behind the shower metal and the corners of the bottom Stained duvet cover No toiletries provided No clean cup for the second day Overall, I would not return or recommend -it isn't the guest house that past reviews attest to providing warm welcomes or lovely cooked breakfasts.
