Gorgeous garden. Close to train station and lovely country walks up to the castle and the Goetheanum. Great complimentary breakfast in a wonderful environment. Grateful for the use of a fan on the last night.

Staff failed to inform me of a loud musical performance during the night, right outside my room. The premises are used for entertainment and conferences. So not always peacefully serene. Extremely hot. No air conditioning.

I have particularly enjoyed an excellent swiss cheese and yoghurt. Cold meats, eggs, cereal, variety of bread and dry fruit we're also on offer. Coffee was of a good quality and the dining area elegant and pleasant. This hotel is just outside Basel but very easily accessible by a train from the main central station and it takes over 10 min to get there. There are two trains an hour, always at the same time, Monday to Sunday. Location is tranquil and very quiet. Beds are comfortable and rooms simple but with a certain ambience. Shared bathrooms are very modern, super clean, bathrobes and towels provided.

A kettle and basic selection of a tea/ caffe would be useful as I love having several teas a day
