"Lovely welcome"

Fauzi Azar is proud of his history, and is sustainable for the future, using energy saving and water saving initiatives effectively. The free tour of the Old City is a welcome addition.

"Comfortable stay in good location"

8.0

Big clean room with a high ceiling but a very cramped bathroom to share between 4 people. Lovely staff - one of the staff stayed up till 11pm for us to check us in. We loved the free cakes policy. Word of advice, if you are driving here, put in a car park on 6089 St rather than the actual hotel. Otherwise, your GPS may take you to the back suburban streets which are not easy to navigate due to the narrow roads.

"Charming"

8.0

It is a lovely old mansion owned by a Palestinian Arab Christian family (we didn't even know that category existed until we arrived!). Make sure you do the city tour which takes you to all the places you would NOT normally go - into shops to talk with the owners, listening to the hotel owner about their family, etc)

"The best!"

This is a brilliant place. Fantastic building, very well run with the best breakfasts in the Middle East and such helpful staff. We loved it.

"A beautiful and atmospheric setting"

8.0

The location is good - a little away from the bustle of the main street, but only a few minutes walk into the action. A good buffet breakfast, with a good variety of food. Our room was spacious. However, what was disappointing was the disruption to our sleep from guests in the dorm rooms downstairs - a little disappointing given the premium price that we were paying.

"Highly recommended but not for everyone"

8.0

Its 4.7 rating is well deserved. It is a hostel with the natural character of a 150+ year old mansion in the center of the old-city section of Nazareth that has been re-done as a hostel with care and with no fake kitsch. Breakfast helps you begin the day without going overboard. Kitchen with coffee, cake, etc., is open 24-hours. Plenty of open-places to sit within the Inn. Beware: getting from the parking lot to the Inn is a walk of 5-7 minutes through narrow, stone-paved streets. Also, the stairs leading up and down to the rooms are quite steep. Ideal for pilgrims, trekkers, tourists looking for something off the run-of-the-mill.

"Great Experience"

10.0

Our stay at the Fauzi Azar was quite amazing. We didn't know what to expect, but the 2-star grade didn't let us expect much. That's one of the reasons why we were so pleasantly surprised when we walked in through the little door (it's low to make you bow, as in Arab custom) – the mansion is beautiful, clean, airy and exudes a very friendly air. The staff (comprised mostly of volunteers, as far as I know) is extremely friendly and eager to help. The inn is located in a very central location in the Old City and, while it can be a bit hard to find, especially at night (I highly recommend printing out the instructions they provide before arriving, the Old City streets are quite impossible to navigate), you feel in quite a different place while inside. They also serve delicious cake 24 hours a day, and I highly recommend taking the free tour they have every morning, which tells the story of the house, of how it became an inn (and in the process completely changed the face of the Old City) and of the many small businesses which are flourishing in the neighborhood. It's also a great central base for exploring Northern Israel, some 90 minutes from Rosh HaNikrah, 30 from Tiberias, and 60 from Haifa and Cesarea.

"Characterful and comfortable"

10.0

My best accommodation find in Israel - beautiful little hostel/hotel in an old Arab mansion, in the heart of Nazareth's old city. Delightfully friendly and welcoming staff, full of local information and enthusiasm, comfortable room, and delicious Arab breakfast. I thoroughly recommend staying at the Fauzi Azar Inn!

"Great little place to stay in Nazareth."

8.0

It is a very unique hotel in the Old City of Nazareth and central to tourist sites within the city. The staff are extremely helpful and accomidating - customer service was excellent. There is wi-fi but it is not accessible from all rooms (though the signal is strong in common areas and the lobby). The breakfast was traditional Arab-style (eggs, flatbread, yogurt, fruit, zatar, cheese, salad) and was fresh and good. The only negative was our air-conditioner did not work well in our room. We did not say anything because the weather was not too hot, but in the middle of the summer this would be an issue. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
