Villas Alturas

Beautiful mountain view of the ocean from private villa & the restaurant. Staff is friendly & helpful, food is delicious/gourmet & bonus! Location is right next door the the wildlife sanctuary (highly recommended, very informative & interesting).

What a great place, we loved it! It is small, just seven one- and two-bedroom villas, so it feels very much like a private retreat. We stayed in #3 which had an amazing view of the ocean. The food (we had one dinner and two breakfasts) was the best we had on this trip to Costa Rica. Can highly recommend the mani-mahi, and also the fresh pasta with shrimp and aurora sauce -- a tangy tomato sauce. Don't miss the wildlife sanctuary just up the road. It's not part of the hotel, but the walking tour leaves from the lobby. One thing to note -- the air-conditioning unit is in the bedroom. It worked very well but there is not a unit in the living room/kitchen. We left the bedroom door open and it dried and cooled the living room but was still a bit warm.

Very nice hotel, excellent food and great staff. We very much enjoyed staying at the hotel and will definitely return. The villas are excellent with a lot of space and great views. My only recommendation would be to add air conditioning in the living room/kitchen.

We loved our room, as well as the staff who were so helpful during our three day stay. Breakfast was amazing, and the view, unbeatable! We plan to go back sometime it was that good.

This was our second time staying at Villas Alturas and it was just as magical now as it was 7 years ago. You climb a very steep drive to a piece of paradise. The view is to die for.
