Villas Picalu Lodge

We liked Puerto Aventuras very much. The 'lodge' is a part of a villa with a separate entrance. The owners live above and beside you. There is no direct access to the backyard where the pool is. There is no outside area where you can enjoy breakfast or coffee. The only chairs are the sun loungers by the pool. The only access to the backyard is to go around the house through a narrow path and duck for the bushes that are growing there and enter the garden through a not working well gate. The owners don't mind that you use their garden but still we felt that we were sitting in their space. The garden is no longer as shown on there picture it has now so much tall vegetation that there is no sun spot during the day. That causes also that the pool not comfortable varm and not really usable. Because of the vegetation on the front and the back the lodge is quite dark inside. We found the mattress too hard and not comfortable but that can be us liking more soft mattresses. The kitchen is basic and can have some more stuff. Two of everything is basically enough for two people but if it is functional that is something different. Further is there is no warm water from the kitchen faucet. A little table to put your glass or something else on with the cough would also be a good addition to the interior.

Now we are coming to the part that is a really serious problem. The owners have two kids. They scream and cry when they are at home and even during the night they will wake you up. We stayed here a week and drove us crazy. When the family came home, we went away because of the noise pollution they produce. Maybe you think well it cannot be that bad, I warn you it is that loud that you think they are standing next to you. Hopefully this review warns the coming bookers and makes the owners decide to take it out of the rental till the kids are big enough to sleep through the night and can be told that they have to take the tenants into account. We will never come back here and will choose one of the plenty other rental houses on Puerto Aventures.

It was quaint, clean and had Netflix loaded on the tv. Sonia was very polite and great to deal with

Our only complaint which is minimal was the bed wasn’t super comfortable. But everything else was great!

Excellent place to stay

Few items for cooking Pans and pots were dirty Almost no napkins Few forks and spoons No bowls

Accommodations are very comfortable and the area feels calm and safe.

It is a small apartment, for one person it is okay . I was thinking that It would have more amenities , and I was hoping to be in a hotel or something similar.but that's my thoughts, overall it was fine. Thanks again

Sonia and Alberto are wonderful hosts. Very welcoming, very helpful calling taxis and shuttles, providing recommendations, etc. Breakfast was excellent and it was fun visiting with guests from around the world.
