The Baron Hotel

Good value hotel. Yes, it is rather dated but the bed was comfortable, shower hot and the room clean. We found the area safe to walk in, several good dining options nearby and subway station 5 mins walk. Comedy club downstairs did not cause any noise issues on floor 3.

Location is good. Room is comfortable, though furnishings were older.

WiFi did not work very well. No iron in the room, though I was able get one from the front desk.

This is NOT the grand old, quaint, charming hotel that you might expect. The lobby is shabby with filthy carpet. The "elevator" if you can call it that, is soemthing out of a horro movie that you can get trapped just getting in and out of it, if you are not Charles Atlas and have an extra pair of haled to hold back the door or the gate! Roomos are very basic, and clean, but with no frills. If you want ice, you need to go to the front desk and wait five minutes for the desk clerk (usually wearing a frown) to go retrieve the ice. No closet, NO bureau, chipping and peeling paint on the woodwork, and when I went to take a shower this morning, there was a COCKROACH crawling up the wall, next to the shower!!! Booked through EXPEDIA and they tried for two days to contact the desk regarding an accounting issue and the phone for the hotel was never answered! Could you tell that I am NOT A FAN?
