Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan

It was exactly what my wife and I were looking for in the Ryokan experience. The in-room onsen, private onsen, and communal onsens were excellent. Our in room meal was excellent and the traditional ryokan breakfast the following morning was great as well. The only issue was we were only there for 1 night.

Amazing private onsen

This was easily one of our highlights from our Japan trip. The staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating, food was outstanding and a shuttle to easily get into Kyoto for the day. Don’t skip!

료칸은 처음이었지만 만족스러운 숙소였다. 대욕탕도 좋았고 노천탕도 모두 좋았으며, 직원분들이 매우 친절했다. 숙소에 있었을 때 눈이 와서 그런지 분위기가 매우 좋았다.

Room was very spacious and comfortable. The private Onsen was a treat and the public Onsen is fantastic! They sure feed you well here too!!

The stay was beautiful!

落ち着いた雰囲気と非日常を味わえる温泉でした。リニューアルした設備でしたが、それを感じさせないほど、キレイで落ち着く空間でした。温泉付きの部屋でしたが、早朝から自然を感じながら和やかで豊かな時間を過ごさせていただきました。オススメのお宿です。

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. The hospitality and experience of this ryokan was like a dream.
