The Pe La Resort, Phuket

The location was perfect. It was a little further from the beach than expected but our stay was lovely and close to everything we needed - there is a cute bar and massage place across the road which was ideal. The rooms were quiet and extremely clean and very roomy. The suite had a separate dining and living area which made it great to have a quiet evening in.

Do not expect a luxury experience. Upon arrival, they silently took me to my room and did not give a map of hotel/town or offer any sort of guidance about what to do or how to get around. The location of the hotel could be challenging because you have to cross the highway with no sidewalk or crosswalk to get to the beach. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I asked for an extra blanket and they wanted to charge me 800 BAHT ($23 USD) per night (!) to use a blanket… this is not a 4 star hotel as advertised. The shower had cobwebs in it so I’m not confident about cleanliness. I slept with white noise sounds to drown out the birds and construction noises (I was on far end of hotel next to construction site). The pool is small but quiet. There were no yoga classes and that whole area was shabby. The room is run down with many cracks in the wall and the TV audio didn’t work. The AC units did work very well (yay) and they provide 2 bottles of water per day. I did not eat at the hotel, they only offer breakfast. There are great food options nearby. For the price, I had a few complaints especially regarding the subpar service and blankets, but I slept well and enjoyed the walkable location.

Our room looked freshly renovated. It was nice and clean. Staff was also friendly. Balcony view to the garden is really beautiful.

Neighbourhood is super loud. There is a mosque near by and we heard Adhaan few times a day, starting every day at 5:30 am. Other side of the resort (where we stayed) was a cuckoo next door in a balcony that started also to crow every day before 6 am. On the other side of the resort bigger street is closer and there is also a construction site next door. So if you are a light sleeper, this isn’t a place for you. Garden and pool area are also quite small and there isn’t much to do at resort area. They advertised yoga or some other activities but nothing really happened at daytime. Pools were also in bad shape (not looking same as the photos). There are many ceramic tiles missing which makes really sharp edges on the pool sides and ground. Sofa in our livingroom was also little bit dirty with some old stains.
