Hotel Casa Gangotena

Beautiful luxe hotel with views over San Francisco square. Lovely spot for cocktails on the terrace and the rooms are incredibly comfortable. Big fan of the comfy, spacious beds! Restaurant is expensive but food delicious, but not fully representative of local cuisine. Locals do enjoy the restaurant too, but more as a special occasion treat. Cocktails are unique but can be too syrupy and sweet. Our one major negative issue was the noise. We were given room 105, a standard room nearest the stairs down to the lobby. There was door banging often and people speaking loudly in the hall and lobby in the early hours. It meant we got very little sleep and no consideration was given to noise. The rooms were not so well sound insulated for this. If you book, I suggest a room further along the corridors away from the stairwell and lobby noise.

We stayed one night here . The hotel is situated on the San Francisco place which is perfect for visiting the old Quito. We were nicely welcomed and the room is lovely and very comfortable. The bathroom is large with separate bath and shower. It was a bit cold so a heated towel rail would have been nice. Amenities were nice. It doesn’t quite match the standard of a relaix and chateau. There’s no minibar , the tea selection in room is poor. The food is really nice and Freddy our waiter did a great job as well as the gentleman in the evening. Buffet breakfast was nice The best part was the roof terrace which overlooks the San Francisco place . Stunning views at night ! Great place for a cocktail ! The Casa Gangotena was perfection! The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff was gracious and attentive. We stayed in a very comfortable, large room with a spectacular view of the Plaza de San Francisco. We enjoyed breakfast and a wonderful dinner at the hotel and loved that the menu included local cuisine. Plus, the prices were reasonable - we would have easily paid twice as much at home for a meal of the same caliber. You also shouldn't miss a late afternoon cocktail on the rooftop!

High end hotel in the center of old town Quito overlooking the plaza. Neighboring the cathedral and one block away from the archeological museum. Service and decor are exceptional. Not sure if there is a better place to stay in Quito with turndown service alfresco bar and a formal dining room without a dress code.

A restored mansion right in the old city. It is beautiful and clean. Nice lobby with garden and courtyard. Room was big and comfortable. Everyone from checkin through the bar and restaurant gave top notch service. Food in the restaurant was great too.

Nice hotel. Big rooms decorated beautifully. Excellent location on main square in Quito. Love to watch constant activity from the balcony. Also very good service.would highly recommend this hotel. Also the food in restaurant is very good.

We stayed for 6 days in this wonderful hotel. The location is excellent in the old centre with everything in walking distance. The room had a view on Plaza San Francisco and was spacious, luxury and very complete. The breakfast is the best buffet ever and the staff is fantastic, especially Freddie, Bladimir, Rene and Angelo. Thanks for a fantastic stay. We will be back.

Lived up to expectations, and more! The warm reception and welcome drink was a great start after a long travelling day and drive from the airport (45 mins on a public holiday evening). We booked a junior suite with balcony, although the weather was such that we didn’t use the balcony in our two night stay, it gave a good size room and amenities and great view through the trees. We took advantage of the pleasant evening on arrival to enjoy the rooftop terrace with fantastic all around views from its prime location in the Old Town. The Tapis was perfect for us and service friendly including agreeing to open a bottle of bubbly for us to use over the two nights. Food was very good throughout, breakfast, dinner and the occassional snacks. Similarly, the staff, without exception, were friendly and efficient. No hesitation in recommending.

Wonderful historic property that has been updated and has both warmth and style. The staff pampered my family and introduced us to Ecuadorian new year traditions on the rooftop terrace with the other guests that was a memorable and unexpected way to ring in the new year. The restaurant is a fabulous showcase of Ecuadorian cuisine and excellent cocktails and fine wine. First class in every respect. I recommend without reservation.
