Hôtel Frégate Bleue

The pictures and description are misleading. It is not near a beach, and the restaurant is not really a restaurant. When we checked in at 7:30pm on a Friday, we were told that the chef was gone. We assumed we just missed him. The next day, I spoke with the front desk to ask about the restaurant hours. I was told that the restaurant is open late in the evening. Later, we went to the restaurant at 7pm and again was told that the chef was not there. As we were trying to figure out why the chef wasn't working on a Saturday evening, another family was seated at a table. We asked why couldn't we get seated, and another guest chimed in and told us that we have to place our dinner orders early in the day from a selection of 3 items, and the chef will drop the meals off at the restaurant in the evening. Huh? No one ever told us that at check in or the next day when I asked about restaurant hours. It was confusing to not know this. For the rooms, there was no real separate bathroom from the main area where the bed is. There is a door next to the bed for the toilet (very small area just big enough for a toilet), and a separate door for the shower. Very small and right next to bed. You can see the beach at a distance from the hotel, but you can't get to it. There is no road to drive to it and you cannot walk. If you need a cheap place to sleep, this is it, but do not expect more than a bed, and a place to shower.

A great, intimate, hotel. Features a variety of rooms along with a restaurant and bar by the pool. Very unique property. Located at the top of the hill, hotel is secluded but just a few minutes from lots of activity, shopping, water sports, etc. Room was great, with a huge bed, desk, sofa, refrigerator, shower and toilet. The property has gardens, trees, and great landscaping. The nature comes out at night and you can spot and hear the frogs, snails, lizards and more in the gardens. During the day, the trees are alive with a variety of birds. Beautiful gardens and property.

Amazing views of the ocean.. nice comfy rooms, breakfast in the morning is simple and delicious.

The hotel staff and manager were wonderful and always ready to assist. I was unable to speak French and they would try every possible way to ease the communication barrier. I forgot my universal charger and they lend me an extra charger for the whole time that I stayed. The room has everything that a home could have, which was amazing (i.e. spacious, plenty of pillows and beds, free wifi, air conditioning, microwave, fridge, outdoor pool with bar, and ocean view). The food was spectacular and was beautifully decorated. The manager suggested great things to do while I was on the island for a very short amount of time. I enjoyed the stay overall and would love to come back whenever I could take a vacation. ---vacationer from Texas---

The room was very clen everyday, the hotel staff was nice and very friendly, recommended.

Damien is a great host and made us feel extremely welcome and relaxed. The staff were excellent. We had dinner on the deck by the main pool area at short notice, and were very surprised over the quality of the set menu! Truly excellent. The communal areas of the hotel are quite modern and clean. Our main issue was in the quality of the rooms themselves. Outdated. Proper curtains, better linen and mattress as well as a shower head would be good

This hotel is off a small bumpy road as are many on Martinique. The neighborhood is residential so you will want to have a car. While not the most fancy hotel this is a very nice and surprisingly affordable place to stay. Ocean view rooms look out on the Caribbean water and some small islands. Hotel staff tried to be as helpful as possible.

The pics were misleading. Didn't get the room I reserved. Got a smaller room & reception clerk said there was no room like I described. I later found out he lied. Disappointing.

The kitchenette was rusty and simply could not be used, the furniture was old so as the bathroom facilities. A lot of moschitos hiding between the walls. Wifi did not work most of the time. The only good thing about the place is the see view and terrace of the rooms at the ground floor. Generally, overpriced, if you find a house to rent for half of the price than opt for a house.
