Maitai Lapita Village Huahine

We enjoyed our stay. The Polynesian People are the warmest, friendliest I have ever encountered. This island has few tourist accomodations, keeping it very special. Beautiful beach and pool, good food.

Magnificent property with friendly, attentive staff in an ideal location!

Such a caring and attentive staff at this property. It was a tranquil little oasis in the heart of Huahine that we just adored. Try to opt for one of the rooms with a private plunge pool, the perfect little treat after a swim at the private beach. There’s also a car rental place a few steps from the property or, you can opt for a taxi that arrives in mere minutes to take you around the rest of the island.

Gorgeous grounds. Beautiful accommodations. Excellent restaurant with extensive menu. Friendly, helpful staff. We loved our little private pool. Walking distance from the village, along the beach, made it very convenient.

I loved that the bungalows were inspired by the Lapita people and culture. The beach is beautiful. The service was top notch. The reception team went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied during our stay. Not only was it close to the airport, but it was just a short walk to the main area of Fare where we could go to the market. We also rented an emoke (half golf cart/half jeep) for a day which was a fun way to see and explore Hauhine Nui and Huahine Iti.

Stayed in room 301. The stench of mold and water running down the ceiling (see picture) was a smell I can’t describe (like cat pee and mold). Smell is on all of our clothes and husband breathing machine still smells. It is VERY UNHEALTHY. Pool was never cleaned and cotton ??? Sat there for 6 days at bottom of pool. When we checked out we were charged for additional taxes when we already paid over $300 for taxes on the front side. Manager, (Katia), would not come out from behind the wall to explain, or talk to us after we asked several times to talk to a manager. When we went to leave, they would not let us get into a taxi without paying the additional fees that were already paid once. And held a taxi hostage. We even got tax twice and a night we did not even spend there because our flight was canceled (Which hotel would not refund that night). Thankful that we used Hotels.com as they did fight for us and help us out.

It was a wonderful stay of 3 nights. Unfortunately 1 day was unbelievable rain all day where our bathroom leaked and the toilet clogged but the staff were very helpful. It is a beautiful place and we would highly recommend it.

Beautiful place in a quiet island

Pros: - Gorgeous property, looks exactly like the photos. - Friendly staff. - Much less sterile and touristy than comparable waterfront resort properties. Good for a relaxing stay on the beach. Cons: - Air conditioning was woefully inadequate. Room never cooled or dried, and indoor temperature was significantly warmer than outside during the heat of the day. - Restaurant was host to several aggressive stray cats which jumped onto the tables to steal food. - Food was good but not great; fortunately it was also priced reasonably to suit.
