Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Salt River

I am writing about my experience, which may be unique. If you stay in a standard room and not during a time they are “upgrading “ the room door locks your experience will likely vary. Hotel itself is modern and check in was a breeze. We had a 1 bedroom king suite that was spacious and generally well appointed. The mattress was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. The drawbacks in the room - nightstands are small and have only one 3-prong electrical outlet and no USB. The outlet on my side of the bed was so worn that the plug kept disconnecting and had to be pushed back in - The bathroom was very large but contained just the toilet and tub. The sink was in the bedroom, so there was no place to set clean clothing, glasses, watch etc. when showering. Huge room, no flat surface The worst issue was we arrived late after an evening out, the person at the desk said nothing, we went up to our room and could not get in because they “upgraded” the locks that day I went back to the front desk and she could not issue a key because the “system” wasn’t working, so they had to have someone go let us in. Not acceptable given the rates. This was more than twice what you would pay for a similar room at most Courtyards. Plus they have the nerve to charge $8 per day for parking when it’s just a typical courtyard parking lot.

Hotel is of good quality. Location for us was good which was near the Talking Stick Casino, Northern Arizona (where we traveled one day) and Scottsdale. The cafeteria staff was very friendly and food was good however it does cost per meal.

Traveling with another couple, booked a King room three months prior and PREPAID in advance. Upon arrival we were put into a double Queen room. Both of us spoke with the front desk gal who stated that the room assignments were "rearranged" that morning by the manager. We stated that we prepaid which should have reserved our room. Hotel staff stated that we were moved because we were Booking.com customers and their priority was to take care of their Marriott customers first. There were no other King rooms available during our stay. This is APPALLING. Is this what we are to expect as Booking.com customers in the future? Simply bumped from our rooms because we booked through a third party site? Spoke to the hotel manager the next morning, stated that he would give us a $40 food credit and 20K in a Marriott account (which I do not use) but could not refund us the difference of hotel rooms since we booked through Booking.com. As a Level 3 Booking.com member, I called the 24 hr assistance who spoke with the same manager. Booking.com representative stated nothing they could do because the hotel gave us $40 food credit. I exclusively book through Booking.com and this did not sit well with us. So basically to get our compensation on my next vacation, I now have to book through Marriott.com instead of Booking.com.

The absolute most friendly staff anywhere I have stayed. Beth at the cafe is absolutely awesome. The cafe also has some really delicious food. Highly recommend the customizable breakfast bowls. Great Scottsdale location. Quiet rooms. All around fantastic experience.

This is a good hotel, clean and comfortable. Really nice pool area. However, the air con unit in our room had some kind of issue because it sounded extremely loud. I don’t mind white noise and I’ve never before been bothered by air con unit noise (in fact it helpfully blocks out background noise) but this was something else. Despite being tired and jet lagged, we were constantly woken each time it fired up noisily, like there was construction going on in the room. So glad we only stayed one night because of this. When we arrived, there were two young receptionists on duty. One was great with communication but sadly the one that dealt with us spoke very quietly and didn’t make an effort to be clearer despite us constantly asking her to repeat. It was very frustrating as there was an issue with the booking on their system and we just couldn’t hear her. She wasn’t great at explaining things either. The other one came to help at one point and was much clearer. This kind of thing matters on front desk!

Normally we stay at a bit more upscale resorts. However, we saw Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Salt River had great reviews on TripAdvisor. We decided to give it a try. Location was excellent. Very close to the 101 and also close to Salt River baseball field and surrounding entertainment district. Staff members at the hotel were super friendly and helpful. The Bistro in the lobby was a convenient place to buy breakfast (we liked the yogurt parfait or omelette) for dine in or taking up to our room. They also serve lunch and dinner. Food was very good. The pool area was very nice and comfortable with lovely landscaping. We always found lounge chairs and the pool towels were supplied. Pool temperature was just right. Felt great. We reserved a suite room with separate living room and bedroom. It gave me and my husband more room to spread out. The living room had a nice card table sized table (36” square? with 4 padded chairs) where we ate our breakfast. Only adjustment for us was the flooring was a luxury vinyl, not carpet as in other resorts. I think the vinyl is actually more hygienic, with the trade off being it’s less cozy. A shout out to Analiza in the Bistro. Also Lauren, Holden, Beth, and Chef Gontalo. Thank you for a great stay 💛 We will recommend this hotel to friends.

We had such a great experience on our work trip this week at the Courtyard By Marriott in Scottsdale. The service was amazing, the building had a great atmosphere, it's close to everything, and the food was on point! Joey was so welcoming and fun to chat with in the Bistro downstairs every night for dinner too! She really gives that place a good feel with her warm and fun personality. It was a very enjoyable and memorable experience away from home. I definitely want to give her a 5 out of 5 on here and I really think she deserves this shout out 🤙 Chef Corie thank you too!! The food was amazing! I would definitely come back here to stay and I would recommend it to my family and friends coming to visit Scottsdale!

Such a fantastic experience and stay. What made it even better was the service. Brooklyn was so hospitable and helpful. Love this place!
