"Stay here"

10.0

Very, very nice hotel. The breakfast was excellent, with American and Chinese choices, and good coffee. It is close to the art galleries of 798 Art District, and just off the highway to the airport.

"A motel in disguise"

2.0

They did a good job using good deco to disguise the shabbiness of the hotel. When you look closely, nothing but motel quality furnitures and room conditions. The bathroom looks dirty. Plus you won't be able to get a taxi to the front of the hotel. You have to go to the street. It is definitely not a 4-star hotel. The only good thing is the free breakfast. They call it Continental breakfast but it is actually pretty fancy and you can order good food. There are tons of good 4-star hotels in Beijing. I would definitely stay away from this one unless you are expecting a motel quality with 4-star price.

"A different experience of Beijing"

8.0

If you have done the traditional sites and are looking for something different, this is it! Situated right within the 798 ART district, you could literally stay here for 3 nights and still not cover the entire area. We explored the galleries and cafes/restaurants on foot for 3 days and still felt like we had a huge bit we didn't cover. The hotel itself is lovely. Interesting 'Pollock-inspired' art adorn the walls along with some Wong Kar Wai stills of his movies. The rooms are nicely appointed and the breakfast was sufficient but not extensive. My hairdryer tripped the power one morning but they were in to fix it within 5 minutes! Not so convenient if you want shopping or lots of eating, as the traffic can get a little crazy going into town but think of this place as a good starting base for exploring the 798 Art district.

"Wonderful Beijing Art Hotel"

10.0

On the edge of the arty 798 District, Grace Beijing is a cool, beautifully apponted boutique hotel with ultra-comfortable rooms, great service and a brilliant location. From the moment I arrived the staff were keen to help, advise on local galleries and places to eat and assist with travel plans. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless, subtly furnished and decorated and well equipped. A huge roll top bath provided a great place for a soak after the hustle and bustle of Beijing. The restaurant is Italian/med cuisine so I gave it a miss, prefering to eat local food, and the area is well stocked with great bars and cafes. However, breakfast in said restaurant was superb, offering Chinese and European options. I was on business and only stayed one night. Would have gladly stayed a week.

"Love this hotel"

8.0

This review is quite late but better late than never. We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel. We absolutely loved the stylish design and the location within the 798 Art District. The location may polarise some because it's not close to things like Tiananmen square, forbidden city etc but we found that the local bus service to the train system got us everywhere we needed to go and was a lot of fun... To be honest, I found 798 to be as interesting or more than the main attractions anyway, having seem them all in the 90s. I loved wandering around in the local area looking at the old industrial buildings and taking photos. The hotel room was very nice. The hotel lobby and grounds are stylish also. The restaurant is great and breakfast was beautiful. No buffet here just order from menu and the chef takes pride and care in preparing it for you. Fresh fruit and bread/pastries were provided to accompany either Western or eastern dishes. I don't know where one would stay to be central to everything in this great city, so for me 798 was as good a place as any to call home. A side note and something we learned from reception, I recommend using a private car service and visiting great wall at Jinshanling, we did and we were the only two people on the wall for over an hour of our almost 3hr walk, making for great photos. Pack water :)

"Quiet and peaceful"

8.0

We booked 2 rooms. They were both very comfortable and the bathroom was pretty sumptuous. I arrived late because I could not find the hotel....make sure you can call the hotel for help. My husband tried to find me in 798 and it took an hour. 2 roads have the same name only one is "nan" or south or west or something and so we were each on a different road. We ate a wonderful dinner even though we entered the dining room at 9:30 pm. We were the only ones there. The staff is polite. I did smell a cigarette once, even though this is a non-smoking hotel, but it was nothing compared to the rest of the city. I would return, definitely.
