The hotel is set in a very nice area at the cove with a walking path along the coastline. However, we did not feel very welcome. First, there is self-check-in and check out, and we did not see any staff at the hotel. Then in the restaurant, they were not wearing masks while they handled the food, yet they did not come to the table with our meals. The waitstaff would drop off the food at a distant table where we had to get up and retrieve it. Clearly, they were ultra concerned for their own safety but not our safety, as their uncovered faces were near our food. Even if the law did not mandate at that time that they wear masks, as food service workers, this should be a no-brainer with increasing Covid cases in the UK. For us, it was not a friendly or warm atmosphere. Perhaps with our American accents, they thought we could be diseased, but we do not live in the states. We live in Europe. That said, the seafood dinner was delicious at the hotel. Breakfast was decent.

The property is set in a traditional Fishing village with lovely views of the sea. However, the pub and restaurant was closed on The evening we stayed and since COVID-19 the establishment has not been opening every day which means there is nowhere to eat in the evening. Therefore , this should be stated before booking. There were several people staying who were similarly disappointed. Explaining they booked and were unable to get a refund once they had been told a few day’s before the pub would not be open. The room was extremely basic with two single beds which were of a size to accommodate children rather than two adults one of 6ft 6ins! This resulted in an awful nights sleep. The bathroom was a good size with an excellent shower. The room was basically clean , yet it was off putting to find a dirty coffee cup and blue tack keeping part of the covering under the sink together. This is especially worrying during the Current climate. Apart from the views, the best part of the stay was the large, tasty breakfast and the very friendly lady who served it.

The warm, welcoming staff, the location and the friendly locals. The room had a wonderful sea view and every morning we watched the fishermen leaving the cove. The highlight of the trip was eating the fabulous seafood dinners every evening. The fish and shellfish could not be any fresher. Helen, her husband and team could not have made us feel any more welcome, I highly recommended staying here.

"Smuggling pub right by the water"

10.0

This is a tremendous pub with a lively bar and an obvious sea-faring history. It is very remote and you need to walk quite a long way from the car park to the village - but it was worth it.
