"Old fashioned comforts and pizazz"

8.0

We only stayed one night. It’s a beautiful setting and feels safe from the hawkers outside. Every corner is occupied with an artefact or embellishment. the courtyard is beautiful and the light breakfast had plenty of local treats.i didn’t see any television, which was an advantage, but the wifi worked well.

"Unfriendly hostel posing as a hotel"

4.0

Unpleasant, aggressive staff in a hostel located in a dodgy part of the Medina. The alleyways are lined with drug dealers. "Private" bathrooms are separate from the sleeping rooms, across public hallways and staircases. No shampoo, no soap, no amenities provided. Just grubby towels. Rooms are cold, spartan and unclean. Grubby linens, broken lights, no furniture to speak of, no seating, no TV, no safe. No drinking water provided. The manager is a very nasty woman with a very nasty temper who won't accept any criticism of her precious hostel and will email you abuse while you're sitting in your room. It's all a very unpleasant experience.

"Nice place to stay in Fes!"

It is a nice riad. We encounter some small issues but overall it is a clean place with great service. They even welcome you with tea and cookies.

"Great Location"

8.0

The place is difficult to find, but worth finding. Excellent breakfast and great wifi. If one is into the tannery, the medina and the markets, this is the place to stay. No elevators, so one needs to be fit.

"In the Middle of the Medina"

8.0

The location is excellent for exploring the medina, but out of the way if one wants to go on day excursions. The facility itself is excellent with a great breakfast, and good wifi, If one is directionally challenged, one would find it difficult staying here.

"riad très bien, familial et accueillant"

8.0

"Riad Lalla Fatima"

4.0

Riad was very hard to find, but later found that every time we went back to it in a small red taxi, (very cheap to take) we just said take us to the Hotel Palais Faras in Ziat, which was just round the corner. We had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights which were clean enough but the bathrooms were not very well maintained with the tiniest sinks and bathtubs which did not meet our needs. On the first day we had beautiful white towels, on the second we had not so nice coloured ones and on the third day, they were appalling! My sister in law's were torn! We didn't know what to expect from a Riad. A Riad is a house without outside windows from the rooms, built because in the olden days, the men of the household were very possessive of their women and did not want them to see the outside world. There was a courtyard where we could sit for fresh air, but it was still very claustrophobic. On booking a Riad one must remember that it's a house where the owner and their family live too. For us, family members with children were visiting until the late hours and were very noisy. Management recommended places for us to see, and were told everywhere was within walking distance but it wasn't. We really missed the experience of a hotel offering information about local places to visit and excursions. We also felt we had to be cautious walking in the Madina.
