Ojai Retreat & Inn

It’s a quiet, and well maintained property.

It had a nice variety of food. Being up on the hill is nice to be able to see the valley. I like the paths that go around the property. I love going on walks.

I used the fireplace on the patio, and I wish the flame were larger. It was hard to stay warm, and I was sitting pretty close to the fire.

The breakfast was fresh and thorough. Loved all the options and that they allowed us to arrive right at the end and still dine outside an hour after. Such gracious hospitality. We acknowledged how extra nice it was that there was no manager on site asking how everything was going, if we needed anything, or reminding us of check out etc. It was preferable to be left on our own and trusted to take care of ourselves. This was a noticeable and preferred difference from staying at other types of hotels/inns etc. The property is STUNNING and relaxing. From the comfort of the room, the views, the thoughtful spaces like the Quiet Room and Pink Sunset view space, the complimentary breakfast, all for what we paid?! My friend and I were blown away and want to make sure we visit again and send as many people as possible to keep the place alive. We can tell the place has been cherished and preserved and in today's world, it's JUST the kind of spot we need to disconnect and reconnect. We also appreciated all of it's aesthetics. The overall feeling is very 1993, which I can't fully explain until you see it, but it's much of its charm. Fortunately I am coming through Ojai again next week to help someone move and am making sure we stay here for our overnight.

That it risks being sold and altered. There was literally nothing we would change about the place. We only worry that a new investor might try to make it hip or trendy and we love it just the way it is. There are so few gems as the Ojai Retreat. We were lucky enough to meet Ulrich, the owner and encourage him to keep his mission in tact. It's so valuable and precious.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay it’s a you know funky or high place. I like it so much more than the places with all the frills. It has a great view and I was able to walk into town which is about an hour but still doable.

Beautiful property

This place has so many rules that it is hard to do anything. They even make you sign a document promising you don’t have kids and pets and they keep placing it on your door until you fill it out. Two of the 4 nights we stayed were almost $500 a night. The other two nights were $400. Way too much. It’s a motel 6 in a beautiful area.

The location . Great views of surrounding area . The quietness . Reception gave a pleasant welcome . Breakfast was reasonable

The whole place needs revamp . The green room was out dated . They say private patio but not really ( over looked when people using the lounge) there is a microwave but no plates , cutlery . Because the room needed decorating attention it seemed a depressing room .
