Guangzhou Victoria Hotel (Zhujiang New Town Branch)

Overall the hotel was outstanding but we found certain difficulties to check in into the hotel. The clerk were not cooperative. Finally after one and half, we were checked in

Hotel location in the heart of city. Had an enjoyable stay

They could not find my booking. Though they let me stay but checking out takes a long time because they still could not find my booking. In the end they let me go but keeping my deposit as a guarantee.

This is a new hotel and taxi drivers did not know or never hear about this hotel. It takes about 30 minutes walk to nearby subway station. You need to get the hotel address in Chinese so the taxi drivers know where to go. In general the hotel is new and good condition. Front desk staffs can speak English.

Nice stay and close to everything...should have a bar/pub in the hotel.

Our stay in the Victoria hotel was very pleasant. The staff is friendly and their English skills are pretty much OK. Would have been nice if there had been a babybed available in the room. The location of the actual address differs alot from the pointer on the hotels.com website, so take the full address printed otherwise the taxi driver wont find it. More business than leisure.

Its a nice property with good service and to top it all a Starbucks cafe in the hotel lobby. However, the worst thing is that there are no restaurants around the hotel. Every time you want to eat something(other then Chinese food as there is a Chinese restaurant in the hotel), you have to take a cab. If you want to go for a leisure walk in the evening, forget it. Property in itself is very good for the price.

This hotel is convenient for the fair. Lobby Starbucks is a huge draw. Rooms very clean and good size. Most of the staff really cannot speak very much English. A better lobby would be nice and a bar.

I selected the hotel based on it's location on hotels.com, but it showed to be fake. It was nowhere near the subway station it stated to be. However after staying there it worked out better than expected. Fairly easy to get taxi in the morning going to the Canton fair and evenings it wasn't too much trouble to get a taxi from the nearest subway to the hotel. Hotel rooms very nice for the price. The claimed Western restaurant weren't really that Western......

I had chosen the hotel based on it's location near to the subway, which it was nowhere near when it came down to it. The location shown on Hotels.com was incorrect. When that is said it did work out for us as it was easy to get a taxi in the morning to the Canton fair ground. Evenings still a problem though. Hotel rooms are good, but the western restaurant the hotel claims to have, is as far fetched as their location being near to a subway station.
