"Very Relaxing"

10.0

Read lots of differing opinions on here and on a Facebook page, was a little apprehensive but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We got a transfer in a taxi from the airport as we heard that the queues once the coach arrives were long, this was the case so we are glad that we did, beat the coach by at least 45 minutes. Airport is tiny, but seemed quite well run. The complex is huge and can be seen from a distance, its like a mini town of its own. We booked into the adult only blocks, stayed in block 4, first floor. Room was basic but very clean and comfortable, maids did a fantastic job each day. The adult only room comes with a small cabinet with alcohol optics, all local brew, nice touch but we only had the one each on arrival and the novelty wore off pretty quickly. Plenty of sunbeds and day beds available each day, even later on, we got down poolside just after breakfast each day and always found availability. Pool cleaned every morning, towels available from the little pool hut which also has a vast book library that you can take or donate from. Small bar area with a few tables and chairs, also they provide sandwiches and cakes etc during the day kept in a refrigerated cabinet. We thought the food, which was your typical all inclusive buffet style in a huge restaurant was decent, no complaints. If you can book early we do recommend the Kulinarium restaurant during your stay, fantastic food and atmosphere, men have to wear trousers and collared shirt. Entertainment was a bit meh, standard stuff but they worked hard. We found a little bar to the right of the stage in the corner with bar stools, that was our hangout and the freshly made cocktails were excellent as were the bar staff, especially El John, Danny & the lovely lady you can see in my photo wearing glasses, I think her name was Ria. The grounds and surrounding areas are kept immaculate If you want cheap Knick knacks, go to the beach huts to the right of the hotel as you enter the beach, we bought Cape Verde (moody) football shirts and a couple of towels for souvenirs from the first one from a guy called Solomon, the shops in the main square of the hotel are very expensive even for things like pringles etc.

"Dated hotel with dreadful food and beverage offering. This is not a 5* hotel under any description"

4.0

This is advertised as a 5* hotel - it is very far from that. The food is sub standard. The gourmet restaurants are also buffet style and should not be referred to a s gourmet as the standard is also poor. That’s assuming you can book, as the first available night in any of the gourmet restaurants was on night 6 of our 7 night stay. The evening entertainment is poor, even at NYE. The staff are friendly, the AO pool good and the beach great. But that is not worth the 5* price tag TIU charge. Avoid.

"Excellent 5-Star Resort with Outstanding Staff and Service"

8.0

We had a great stay at RIU Touareg in Boa Vista. The resort is very clean and well maintained, truly 4 star bot 5. The service is incredible and staff are always working hard. Unfortunately some guests leave glasses and plates on the floor, but the hotel staff constantly clean and collect everything. Food choice is huge, all drinks are included, and the food quality is good—especially breakfast. A special thank you to Dilva at reception, who quickly fixed an issue with our Italian restaurant booking. The Italian restaurant is very good, although not very traditional Italian. Overall, excellent resort and staff—just wish guests showed more respect for the place.

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS."

2.0

I find it astonishing that TUI continue to use this hotel. Our experience was nothing short of horrific. The fixtures and fittings within the room were sub standard and definitely not at the level at which the property is advertised. TUI should make it explicitly clear that being this close to the coast of Africa, the presence of flies and mosquitos are literally epidemic. My partner and I were covered in bites, which made us both ill. The flies around the buffet food sections were also unacceptable. As was the temperature of the food offerings. Unless, you served yourself the moment that your chosen foods were available, the food soon became lukewarm, which was also a health hazard. There was no indications that the ice cubes were made with bottled water and that the peeled fruit and salad offerings were washed in bottled water. The fact that there was a microwave oven in the buffet area speaks to the food safety issues. As to the room, our safe never worked and had to be replaced, after having eaten our passports and car keys - they were released by a technician with a Club Hammer. Do you have any idea how stressful it is to lose access to your passports and car keys? Then the toilet broke, which was fixed promptly - thank god - but that is not the point. The lack of electronic keys - archaic yale type keys instead to carry around. No SMART TV. I appreciate that you don't go on holiday to watch tv, however in a supposed luxury accommodation? TUI need to also explicitly identify that this hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. Not just remote, but completely isolated, unless you spend 30 Euros to get you to what passes as the town. Complete misrepresentation. The room was run down and in desperate need of modernisation. Had we known the awful truth of the state of the accommodation and the challenges with the food, we would never have spent nearly £2.5K on such a holiday. TUI should also do the honest thing and tell people about the class action lawsuit that they are facing for exactly these type of issues - prior to taking your money. Both myself and my partner became ill during our stay - initially with upset stomachs and then heavy colds/flu - I have already mentioned the mosquitos - did I mention the bed bugs? What the mosquitos didn't manage to attack, the bed bugs did. We always travel with significant medical supplies, but even these became exhausted in the circumstances. Of other matters - the entertainment was shockingly bad. Who on earth thinks that a wailing duet is something that you want to listen to whilst eating your dinner? The Catamaran Excursion was another example of taking your money and not delivering. Absolutely misrepresented, a terrible afternoon.

"AVOID AT ALL COST"

Hotel looks stunning as advertised on TUI site on arrival its also is stunning. The atmosphere is like picadilly circus and the everyone is fairly friendly, unfortunately thats as far as it goes. The 5* hotel is far from 5* this is what you call misselling of a product avoid this hotel at all cost I would rate is hotel as a 3*. on arrival Hotel reception place a part of 3 in room 7003 this room was not fit for purpose and too far from reception area considering we had a disabled person in our party. After complaining we were allocated another room 5029 this was even worse. Air conditioning not working thermostat wires expose which posed a health a safety risk shower constantly blocked fridge in room not working damp in room damp in communal hallway hotel over priced sofa bed broken seen better days These are a few issues I could go on and on. I must commend TUI who are working with locals and local businesses to promote the island and much ! more. RUI please revise your description of this hotel and put it at its true rating 3*

"1st bad experience at this hotel"

2.0

Well, where do I start My wife and I have visited this hotel over 15 times ( lost count ) . It was our happy place. We have always had fantastic service, Unfortunately, this time we had a different experience. It was our golden wedding anniversary and we were relying on it to be something special. We paid premium for the AO area. On arrival we walked into the room knowing that the erea was well worn. The door dragged on the floor The optics cabinet had nothing in it. The mini bar was empty No hand towels The safe wouldn't open Picked up the phone to call reception and the phone didn't work . Then walked all the way back to reception to ask for hotel manager. They said that he wasn't available and sent the reception manageress. She noted the problems and got most of them fixed and booked us in at the Asian restaurant for our Golden wedding anniversary and my wife's birthday,,, great 😃 All's well now you might think Not so, Only 2 bottles in the optics cabinet instead of 4. Had to complain again. That was fixed. 2 good nights at the Asian restaurant. Then after the day out , returned to the room to find no hand towels AGAIN . Then tried the air conditioning and it didn't work. Had a meeting with Marco Rodriguez the hotel manager and he offered us an upgrade to a suite outside of the AO area but we still had access to the AO area and benefits for our 2nd week, and a complimentary massage at the spa. It was a lovely room so we took it. All sorted now? Not so. We used the whirlpool bath, then when we returned to the room the next day the bathtub hadn't been cleaned and it never was for the remainder of the 2nd week and neither was the bidet. We couldn't be bothered complaining any more as complaining had already taken up too much of our holiday time. You don't pay that sort of money to go on holiday and clean your own bathtub and bidet. It was as if after all these years,we had outstayed our welcome. It was basically bad housekeeping that seemed to follow us around. To add,, The barstaff, porters and entertainment crew were still as outstanding as ever Housekeeping was rubbish. Not up to the standard we've come to expect from the Touareg. We've recommended this place to many family and friends over the years and many have visited.,,,, but, unfortunately we can't do that anymore. Some people we spoke to (1st timers) were treated like royalty in comparison. We had already paid for a return visit in February 2026 but have cancelled now. So,so disappointed 😞 😞 😞
