"Substandard conditions and treatment"

You can easily reach the town center from the property.

We experienced an extreme weather-related outage in Te Anau. The property DID NOT contact us in advance to inform us about the severity of the situation, we only discovered it upon arrival. There was NO electricity generator, NO hot water, NO light, and NO heat available on-site. Two hours after check-in, our tour operator informed us that the outage would continue, with no improvement in weather expected. The same was confirmed in the town centre. It was getting colder (5°C at around 16:30) and darker by the minute. We went to the reception to discuss the situation, rang the bell, and waited for approximately 10–15 minutes. NO ONE appeared. We wanted to confirm the expected duration of the outage and ask for extra blankets and a light source (candles or a torch), which was the MINIMUM the property could have provided in such circumstances. However, there was NO staff member to be found. Given the worsening conditions, we decided to leave (2.5 hours after check-in) and drive to Queenstown, as we were freezing and did not feel safe or welcome. Despite the exceptional situation, the property DID NOT show any understanding and REFUSED to provide even a partial refund. They MISINFORMED booking.com that we never showed up and DID NOT offer any apology for the inconvenience or the substandard conditions offered. Having travelled to 50+ countries across 5 continents and having stayed in 120+ different properties, my boyfriend and I have NEVER encountered such RUDE and INAPPROPRIATE treatment. This experience has affected our perception of Fjordland and left a black mark on our New Zealand South Island trip. It is a clear lesson on where NOT to spend our money in the future.

Friendly and very informative staff. Room clean and functional. Close to lake and restaurants area.

Lack of a external areas (garden, patio ...). High price due to peak season.
