It was in a good location, nice and quiet and didn't have to go anywhere for food or drink. Staff was lovely and very accommodating

The hot water didn't work, but was fixed quite fast. Although it didn't last long at all. That's the only bad thing I can report about this place. Everything and everyone else was brilliant

What has happened?! My husband and I have visited here many times over the last few years and we've always had a lovely experience, so we thought it was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat with my Mum and Sister after visiting the nearby cemetery to lay some flowers on Saturday afternoon. We walked in, we weren't acknowledged when arriving but we picked a table (just like we usually do) and sat down. There were no signs indicating it was reserved, but a gentleman abruptly asked us if we had booked - we were confused as we didn't know who he was, we advised we hadn't and asked if we were sat on his table (thinking maybe he had booked that table and they'd forgotten to put a reserved sign on). He rudely responded with "it's my pub" and told the bar waitress to sit us on a different table around the corner and that we'd be the last table. We were very confused why he had spoken to us so rudely and we were completely taken aback. We tried to find the table he was referring to, and we sat down. There was no cutlery or menus, so we took a box from the next table. Another lady came over shortly afterwards, took the box back and put it back on the table we took it from, then brought over another box which seemed to be exactly the same, no explanation, no politeness, nothing. She seemed put out. The bar waitress then came over and gave us cutlery, seeming embarassed, apologising and explaining that she "just worked here" - we replied assuring her that it's not her fault. After a moment or so, we decided to leave. As we were leaving, the gentleman shouted something at us but we couldn't hear exactly what he said. I would like to add that the place was completely empty other than one person having a drink near the bar and a couple of people on another table. There were no signs indicating there was a private function, or that any of the tables were reserved and we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable for no good reason from the start and they absolutely did not deserve our custom. We will not be returning. If you're going to run a hospitality venue, learn how to be hospitable and appreciate your customers. Politeness costs nothing.
