Lovely cottage and grounds; Easy access to beautiful nature; Great transport links to Edinburgh; Very comfortable bed.

Wifi was hit or miss, occassionally dropped out. But then the location is quite remote so understandable.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Just what we needed for a mini Twixmas Break! Cottage is gorgeous, bigger than it looks on the pictures. Definitely want to stay here again as it’s in such a perfect location. And the views are outstanding!

Absolutely nothing!

Stunning property, lovely self contained cottage with a log fire. Warm,cosy and has everything you need in a beautiful surroundings.

We only stayed three nights but the cottage would be suitable for a much longer stay. It is very comfortable and very well equipped. The heating had been turned on in good time so that it was lovely and warm when we arrived. We were able to park the car in front of the cottage in private grounds. There is a lovely view over the surrounding area from the front of the cottage. Being only a 2 or 3 minute walk away from the train station on the line between Edinburgh and Glasgow, the cottage is an ideal base for visiting either city. We received a warm welcome from the landlady.

We had some difficulty finding the cottage as it is tucked away in the grounds of Highfield house. However, a phone call to the landlady allowed us to find where to go. The lighting in the kitchen after night fall is a bit dim when using the sink.

this cottage is stunning! we were lucky enough to stay here when it was snowing, it looked like a christmas card! the place was clean and warm and perfect for our weekend away. location is great , only a 5 min walk from the train station or a 30 min drive into edinburgh. we would definitely stay here again. thank you for our lovely stay!

Property is lovely, really comfy, perfect.

I am very unhappy with the communication from the owner. There was a very uncomfortable situation. It turns out that the property owner rents this cottage out on multiple rental platforms. After about an hour of us arriving, another couple showed up and it turns out while we rented it on booking.com she also rented it for the same timeframe on airbnb. Owner was not reachable by phone. The other couple had a car so they left, and we stayed at the property (and really had a lovely time afterwards). The worst part of this experience is that later the owner wrote that THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. That is not okay, and if it happened the other way around (us arriving after the other couple) then we would have been in massive trouble as we arrived by bus and Kirknewton is not very well served by public transport, especially in the late night.
