THThe hotel staff were all pleasant, professional and protective of my well being. The suite was quite spacious, clean and loaded with character.
Sadly… this section of Quito is quite unsafe during the nighttime. The hotel front door was double-bolted and I was warned by the front desk to avoid going outside after sunset. In addition, the hotel is located on a main intersection downtown with lots of traffic (cars and motorbikes) and related noise.
USStaff was very friendly and helpful in solving some special issues for us. Room was large and was cleaned very thoroughly every day. The floors were not carpet and were spotless every day. If you walked barefoot on the floors, you would find no dirt nor feel any grit. The location was excellent -- about a five minute walk to the San Francisco Plaza. From the breakfast room you have a nice view overlooking the Plaza Santo Domingo and church.
It is located on a busy street with our suite facing the street, so some nights the traffic was pretty loud. It certainly would not keep us from staying there again, though.
