Pensión Sea of Clouds

Typically for a pension, the reception is up stairs with no lift from the street. Reception staff: very friendly. Room 101 is en-suite and a good size, with a small, quite smelly outside space only suitable for smoking... toilets overlook this space. The room is spacious and adequate but could be stuffy in hot weather as there seems to be no air-conditioning and ventilation could be a problem but it was fine in February. There were no noise issues at night although telephone ringing at reception and doors closing could be heard from inside the room but it was not a serious issue. WIFI is provided free from a room adjacent to reception but the signal can be picked up in room 101. The bathroom is impressively bright with strong lighting... and fully functional with good hot water. Negatives are... inadequate shelf space in the bathroom and insufficient electric sockets. The tv has only Spanish channels: no satellite. On balance, this is a good value-for-money place to stay by the Playa Cantaneras beach.. quite basic but cheap.

This pension is in general more like a hostel. The staff is friendly and helpful, although not all speak English. The rooms, although small, are clean and we got fresh towels every day. The air conditioning/ventilation is quite poor because there are no windows overlooking the street, just into some shafts in the building, so the air got quite hot during the night. The location is good, in the town center and close to the town beach. The price is very low so I would recommend this place to people only staying in town for a few days and who only need a place to sleep, but not for a holiday.
