"The Family makes this Hotel"

10.0

We were in Prato for a conference. We found this hotel based on the great reviews on Trip Advisor. Here are the highlights: - This is a small, simple, family run hotel. Every person we encountered there was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. -The location is great for walking around the city or for catching a train elsewhere. It was an easy, short walk to the train station. - The room was very clean. I mean VERY clean. Every inch. - Breakfast was simple and delightful.

"A friendly family run hotel in Prato"

8.0

My husband and I and two friends enjoyed 4 days in Prato, staying at a comfortable small family-run hotel in the center of Prato. We were welcomed warmly, and looked after kindly. Nothing was too much trouble, and we indeed felt part of the family. Good suggestions for activities and meals were graciously given.

"Very welcoming"

10.0

Everyone in this family run hotel went out of their way to make us welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, including the free Italian lessons the owner gave my husband every time we saw him!!! They recommended a lovely family run trattoria, Lapo's, 2 minutes walk from the hotel where we ate both nights. The room was spotless and traditionally furnished, the bed was comfy. Air con was much appreciated as temperatures were hitting 40 both days. Seemed like an endless supply of chilled bottled water that they were only to happy to keep providing. We booked a second night within half an hour of checking in as we felt so welcome. Breakfast was simple, croissants, fruit, bread to toast and cereals. Cappuccino and espresso was topped up all through breakfast by the lovely owners. They even let us leave our luggage so we could walk around the town while waiting for our late flight. We have family living nearby in Florence so will definitely return here on future visits. Loved staying here!!

"All the best of Italy"

10.0

We stayed here for a week and had the best service. The small family owned and run hotel is a typical simple Italian facility with lovely marble floored rooms, Italian artwork on the walls and windows overlooking Prato. The family were friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs, and make a lovely cappachinno in the morning with breakfast. The hotel is situated only a 5 minute walk from the city centre, lots of restaurants, a supermarket and max 10 mins from both train stations. Good wifi connection and telly with programmes/movies spoken in English. Only place we came across in Italy that had a kettle and mini minifridge in the room, great if you like a cuppa in the evening. We definitely will be staying there again when we come to Prato next.

"Nothing is too much trouble"

10.0

Nothing is too much trouble for the helpful and friendly owners of this most definitely family-run and family-owned small hotel. Situated just outside the historic centre of this really interesting small town, it is a simple and more than adequate base for a few days in Prato or to reach Florence from the nearby railway station, only some ten minutes flat walk away. Basic and straightforward breakfast buffet. Some rooms can be noisy in view of the hotel's proximity to a busy traffic junction, but if you are lucky enough to have Room 14 you will find a really quiet room with a charming small balcony overlooking an internal courtyard. Highly recommended and would certainly stay here again.

"great location"

10.0

Fabulous family-run hotel with a personal touch. The location is excellent: close to Monash University, buses, and the train station (only 19 minutes to Florence by train). Free parking in front of the hotel with a pass provided by the owner. Plenty continental breakfast with fruit and yoghurt and great coffee. Very clean room!

"perfect vacation"

10.0

Had a wonderful time at Albergo Il Giglio. The family who owns the hotel made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The location is near Monash University and is great for exploring Tuscany. The train station is a few blocks away and trains to Florence and any other town/city run frequently and are very cheap. Parking was free in front of the hotel. The breakfast was fresh and Alvarez always served the coffee (whichever way you like it!) freshly and individually made. The rooms were maintained very clean and tidy. Stefano gave us excellent tips of which sights/places to visit and how best, cheapest, and fastest to get there. His insider knowledge was invaluable and helped us decide when to take the train or the car. The restaurants he recommended were fantastic.

"Excellent staff and Sevice"

8.0

We were here in 2004 and loved it then. We brought our kids with us this time and loved it just as much. Prato is a great little city in its own right, but what makes Albergo Il'Giglio great is the people that own and run it. You won't find better service or or a more genuine, helpful and friendly staff. We were so happy that after so many years that Stephano and his family were still here. When we arrived Stephano brought us a bottle of Proseco to toast our return! Il'Giglio and Stephano will always hold a special place in our hearts.
