Chiangkhong Teak Garden Riverfront Onsen Hotel

Lovely clean comfortable hotel. Pool maintained very well and their spa was excellent.

What a pleasant surprise this place was. My wife, her sister and a cousin and I booked two rooms on the Mekong River side and found it was well worth it for the view alone. We also enjoyed a very nice al fresco dinner at the hotel's restaurant, seated next to the pool. Chiang Khong is a bit of a drive north of Chiang Rai in Chiang Rai Province, quite close to the Golden Triangle borders with Myanmar and Laos. We weren't there for the onsen, which was fortunate because some kind of renovations were going on and it wouldn't have been available. The Teak Garden had a very nice and helpful front desk staff, and the place has very interesting foliage (notably the teak trees after which it is named). They also provided packaged goods for visitors who wanted to greet the local monks in the morning and give them an offering of food and other items, which this "farang" thought was a nice touch.

Excellent staff and service

We only stayed for 1 night before crossing over into Laos. The hotel totally surprised me. The staff were so helpful. The restaurant was really good and the views were stunning being right on the Mekong looking over into Laos. We stayed in a riverview room in the resort side of the hotel - the room was very nice, very clean and had everything we needed and the view from the balcony was amazing. I hope to come back to Chiang Khong and stay at the Teak Garden for a few days to really enjoy the hotel and the town.

One of the most comfortable hotels in the area, very nice atmosphere and the view is incredible. Good breakfast, friendly service, and beautiful pool. I'd recommend staying here if you're in the area.

We were surprised! What a nice hotel. Beautiful location with an amazing terrace above the Mekong with the pool and the restaurant. Nice rooms. Really very good breakfast with a breathtaking view across the river to Laos.

Room # 606 x 3 Nights / Booked via Agoda ( River View Room ) We drive 3 days to come here once a year for a few days in the cool season. It is always a treat. Staff so friendly. Rooms relaxing, clean and modern in a traditional way. Bed so so comfortable. We always book the River View room with a Bathtub on the Balcony - nothing better that that!!! Chiang Khong is quiet and calm - this is reflected in the hotel too. Free Parking onsite. A Big C mini supermarket has just opened up 200 metres away.... We will be back this time next year.....

Sehr gutes Frühstück

I spent one night here with my daughter. You can blame it on Covid-19, if you wish, but absolutely nothing was open here. I booked specifically for the pool but it was closed. No restaurant, nothing to do and very unhelpful staff, if you could find them. They couldn’t even provide toilet paper for my room and when I called reception, no answer. No breakfast provided. Gave us rooms with the worst possible view even though we were the only guests staying that night. I understand the economy is in doldrums and business is very slow. I understand tourists are few and far between. But for those of us who are trying to support this industry and these businesses, why can’t they be more accommodating and supportive rather than indifferent and lazy? There are much better options in Chiang Khong than this faded pearl.
