Stolls Hotel Alpina

Perfect for relaxing and joy too. This hotel is a true family run beauty. I hope they know what they have in their hands. I love old style and they have some true antique there.

Great place on a hilltop with panoramic views. Good food and nice rooms. Fast internet. Good price. Newish rooms. I liked the little sauna and pool. Good place between Lake Königssee and Berchtesgaden.

The experience was great beginning to end. Many small town Hotels and Pensions in Bavaria close for check in at 6 or 7 p.m., Hotel Alpina was open for check in until at least 10 p.m., which was great for us as we didn't reach Berchtesgaden until that time. The check in process was painless, and they even upgraded our room for no additional cost. The room was clean, spacious, there was wi-fi (which is great for U.S. travellers who don't otherwise have access to international data cell plans), and we had absolutely no complaints about the quality of the facilities. Breakfast is something that Germany takes very seriously, and Hotel Alpina delivers. Breakfast is included, and has the standard German offerings of rolls/cheese/meat for sandwiches, eggs, coffee/tea/juice (plus wine for mimosas), musli and more. It was a great way to get a solid meal in place before heading out for the day. Speaking of which, you're only a few short minutes by car to the entrance to the Konigsee, and it makes getting in early and beating the crowds a breeze. Lastly, although I speak some German, the hosts were comfortable working with me in English as I checked out (just to make sure there were no miscommunication). I can't recommend Hotel Alpina highly enough.

Excellent hotel!!!

I highly recommend this hotel. The room was large and the internet good. We had a tasteful and enjoyable meal at the hotel restaurant in the evening, and enjoyed our morning breakfast. Viewing the photos of all the famous people that have stayed here in the past was interesting.

The hotel is high up on a mountain, but is very charming with a restaurant and huge glass windows overlooking a garden. The breakfast is great and the amenities like the pool and sauna were a pleasant surprise. We were put on the top floor with no elevator, so three flights of stairs was not fun. This would be a great hotel for a romantic getaway and a short drive to town. The room that we had was located at the end of the hallway, so our frosted bathroom window next to the sink was visible to others in the hallway. Unfortunately we did not understand why we had a crowd outside our room until we saw the visibility that apparently was given of me topless drying my hair. They should probably put curtains or blinds on the bathroom window.

Better to have car to see more. Hiking in the lake area exceptional, but get ready for the rough terrain. Only several miles away are Bad Reichenhall with Rupertus Therme-for the very unusual spa experience. Plus Salt mines museum.

On a one night stay, the food was great, both for breakfast and dinner (complimentary salad). But... WiFi only works near the reception AND is limited to two devices! So if you are like me, have a laptop, iPad and iPhone, only two of them will work on the hotel WiFi. If you get put in the newer building (the one that doesn't have reception) then WiFi won't work from your room at all. By modern standards, that's terrible.

Little bit far from Berchtesgaden station.(20 min. by foot) Service : Some were friendly. Some were not or so so. Room : some walking sound are heard from upper floor at night breakfast : just so so.. ham, eggs, some salad & fruit. But coffee was nice So, overall, just average service & facility.. a bit far from the nearby station.. If you have car, it will be ok..by the way They provide some transportation card and with this you can use bus for free just showing to the driver(and some discount for eagle's nest ticket when buying tickets. just bring it and show to the ticket clerk) Around the hotel, scenery is very beautiful
