Crowne Plaza Huangshan Yucheng by IHG

We stayed here for one night on the way to Huangshan Mountain (Yellow Mountain). The Crowne Plaza in Tunxi was an unexpected delight. The lobby is gorgeous and the rooms were extremely nice, on par or better than most 5-star hotels (perhaps a level below the Park Hyatt or Conrad, but for a fraction of the price). I recommend storing your luggage here and just taking a backpack to the mountain if you plan to stay overnight since it is a fairly long and vigorous hike/stair climb (about 1-3 hours, depending on whether you use the tram). Note: the cost of hiring a car to take you to the mountain was not trivial and everything on the mountain is pricey, but worth it. The service at the front desk and concierge was excellent. The was also pricey (I think we were steered toward the most expensive restaurant on the premises). The quality of dinner was better than breakfast, which is a large buffet.

I booked this hotel based on other reviews. Being a native Chinese speaker, I wasn't deterred by the service difficulties experienced by others. What was appealing to me was the fact the hotel is relatively new; based on my years of traveling to China, hotels tend to show wear and tear far faster than other places around the world. The staff was very helpful (again, I speak Chinese) when inquiring about visits to Huangshan. The room was probably one of the best I have experience in China. It isn't Wardolf Astoria or Four Seasons, but priced around $100 a night, you can't go wrong.

Hotel was comfortable and service was very good and friendly and we got rooms with nice view of river, however the location was not as ideal as it was in a residential area and there wasn't much to do or see in the neighbourhood..and not much choice for restaurants as well although the western restaurant in the hotel was quite good and reasonable. However the stay was marred by the fact that the hotel disputed that my rooms included breakfasts..although the booking confirmation clearly included a breakfast per room..finally we were not charged for breakfast.

Great breakfast buffet, as well as the dinner buffet. There was a very large selection of western and chinese dishes. Would highly recommend it. The concierge was very knowledgeable and help us organize a trip to the Yellow Mountains.

Was attended to by very friendly and professional staff who help me resolve my problems with the mobile phone. Also the concierge explained in detail when I asked about my trek to Huangshan mountains. He even offered to give me a walking stick as guests often leave them behind after their trek. The room is spacious and well laid out. I would stay there again. Highly recommended.

this hotel was a pleasure to stay at. Staff was very accommodating and the rooms were great. The in hotel restaurant was great for breakfast.

Very clean and pleasant hotel with a friendly staff. The hotel is about 1.25 hrs away from HuangShan Mountain though. The hotel staff, particularly Rose and Cherry were very helpful and made for a pleasant stay
