Auerhahn is a very nice hotel with friendly staff, good food and comfortable rooms: good value for money

Good ..things worked well. Friendly people

Very nice. The staff was nice and helpful. A little over worked but attentive. Breakfast was very good for free. Excellent German food at the restaurant and a playground for the kids. Only negative was the room was not smoke free but we opened the window to the fresh air. This was just an overnight stay on our trip but would go back if nothing else just for the food. We had six different entrees and all were excellent along with strawberry cake.

I remember hitching around Germany 30 years ago and finding places like this and it hasn't been updated since then! Bedroom spacious but minimal, reasonably well cleaned; some ancient IKEA furniture. At least it had two comfortable chairs- British hotels please copy. The rest very twee and over-decorated in a style that could have been Hollywood's idea of German hotel interiors. The hotel manager was magnificent but probably dead of exhaustion by the time you arrive. She was waiter, reception and the only one who could handle the Visa machine, so to bed at 0230 to be up at 0600 for checkout, but still wonderfully attentive. My satnav could not handle the address for the hotel at all but it is very convenient for Kiel and Rendsburg or as a stop over on the way to Denmark.
