Sleep Inn & Suites Marion - Military Institute

The hotel is not really near anything. The room was a little rough in areas and the bathroom was not especially clean. The staff was nice. The parking lot lights outside the hotel weren't working so very dark and worrisome.

First of all, there's nothing wrong with the hotel but the hospitality was wanting!!! My wife and I both have problems sleeping because the pillows were not comfortable. Like other hotelsci went downstairs and asked for a few more. The ladie attending the desks said "We never had anyone ask for xtra pillows"! I said, "First time for everything!" She contacted the manager and they said they didn't have extra pillows. So i drove to the DG down the street and purchased some. Second night i went downstairs and asked for a few towels and washcloths. She said I'd have to bring her my other used towels!! I informed her I've never had a hotel do this either usually just leave them for maid service. She walked with me down the hall to the open laundry room throw them on the pile. I took back 2 towels. I felt like some kinda criminal. Vowed not too come back here again. The correct answer was....treat me like a guest. Ps: Marion, Al. Has few places to eat. You can count olem on your one hand and have digits left over.

The hotel was clean, friendly staff, very comfortable beds.

Loved everything

Check-in was great and very easy, as was check-out. My only issues were that my drain in the tub/shower did not drain properly and that there was some mold and pealing paint at the bottom of the wall near the tub.

Surprisingly, there was no key for the door, the clerk had to let us in the room whenever we had to go in

It was fine for a quick stay. We needed a room for the iron bowl and it was a great value considering what we would have had to pay in Tuscaloosa. However, I wouldn't want to stay there for a long trip. The lady that checked us in was very friendly but the room was dirty with used rags left in the bathroom and hair in the tub. The first day we were there they didn't refill any of the breakfast food so there wasn't any left to eat an hour before breakfast was supposed to end. They didn't even refill the milk jug for cereal. Hot chocolate and coffee were supposed to be available 24/7 yet there was no hot water to prepare it. Shower does not get very warm either. The staff were arguing with each other in the lobby as well so not the most professional. The breakfast situation was unfortunate considering we had one car and my husband stayed at the hotel with our daughter with no way to go. This hotel is in the middle of no where so ordering food to have delivered was not an option and they barely got anything to eat at breakfast.
