Arkaba Hotel

The room was great and we always liked the ambience of the hotel.

Unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We arrived at approximately 8:30 PM. The staff member at reception was busy and asked another employee to assist us with check-in. The second employee was friendly, professional, and helpful. We were given our room keys and advised that our room was Room 502. After checking in, we went out and returned to the hotel at around 11:00 PM. When we attempted to use our room key in the lift, it did not work. Another guest kindly used their key card as he was going to the same floor. We then went to Room 502, unlocked the door, and were shocked to find that the room was already occupied by another guest. This was an extremely embarrassing and distressing situation. We immediately returned to reception and explained what had happened. The receptionist checked our keys and informed us that our room was actually Room 503, not Room 502. Despite the seriousness of the mistake, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused, and no concern shown regarding the fact that we had been given access to an occupied room. The following night, our room key stopped working again. I returned to reception, where the same staff member simply reactivated the card and handed it back. During both interactions, I observed a noticeable difference in the way he treated us compared to other guests. He appeared warm, friendly, smiling, and engaging when serving white guests, but his attitude towards us felt cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. This left us feeling uncomfortable and concerned that we were being treated differently. The next morning, we raised our concerns with reception and were assured that someone would contact us to discuss the matter. Unfortunately, no one ever followed up. Being directed to an occupied room is a serious breach of guest privacy and hotel procedures. The lack of apology, empathy, accountability, and follow-up made the experience even more disappointing.
