The Downtown, a Coast Hotel

Room was clean, street parking was easy. There was never a time when I had to park far away. Wifi worked OK.

Room was far too hot. Outside temperatures were 23 degrees by day and 5-8 degrees by night. Despite having a ceiling fan, floor mounted fan, and open window, we couldn’t get the room cool. Layered on top of that first complaint was inconsiderate guests. We were in the annex across the street and that has a communal seating area. All the room windows face inwards into that communal area . Guests were making noise in that seating area beyond midnight, meaning we had to either suffer the noise or close the window and get cooked by the heat even more. No breakfast options. The nearby bistro was queued out the front door at 7am, and grocery store doesn’t open until 8am so we either had to start the day hungry, or start the day late. Bathroom shower was tricky to get the right temperature, and decor was old: It’s a shower over bath arrangement Overall, I get the impression that this is a party hotel. If you don’t care for parties, there are other hotels a bit further away with air conditioned rooms.

No breakfast at hotel, Bar could have been more clean, tables were sticky. Needs updating maybe newer rugs, chairs.

Good location. Really comfortable beds, pillows and linen. Good sized room. Helpful receptionist.

The shower temperature and force is difficult to regulate.

No breakfast service on Saturday, It was the most expensive rooms on our entire trip, with the least service.
