Balangan Garden Bungalow by Gaing Mas Group

Grounds and gardens are not to bad. Staff are very nice. However they didn't understand much English. Therefore they didn't understand that the room smelt musty. Room was not very clean and the bathroom was worse. Loose bathroom fittings as well. They advertise WiFi but could not get a signal in the room and would have to sit in the dining room to use the internet but it was terribly slow. Don't expect to be able to do much on the internet. Also the location on Google maps is wrong it's actually a few kilometres further from the beach than Google says. This is not really worth the price they charge.

Room was not very clean. Had a horrible musty smell and because of the staff's limited English they could not understand the problem. Bathroom was not clean and some of the fixtures were loose. The staff were nice and friendly. Also the location for this hotel on Google maps is incorrect, it is actually much further back away from the beach. They advertise that they have WiFi but it only seemed to work in the dining area. Barely even got a signal down in the room

We stayed here only for two nights but wished we had longer. The rooms are new, clean and inviting with a lovely thatched roof, air conditioning, and TV and set in a beautiful Balinese garden with a small swiming pool. It is a family owned business and the family were so friendly and accommodating. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the stunning beach along a peaceful country lane. If you were staying longer it would be wise to hire a scooter or a car as,at the time we were staying there was no food provided in the evenings meaning that you have to travel a while to get to local restaurants. This aside it is certainly a beautiful place to stay if you want to be close to Balangan Beach.

When we arrived hotel did not have our booking so we had to wait while they phoned the local agent and then wait again while they tried to get the room ready. We booked a room for four people but rooms really don't accommodate four people. Kids had to sleep on one mattress on the floor. Local agent was unhelpful. We were told the rate included airport transfer, but when we booked the return transfer, were told it was only a one way transfer - not made clear at booking stage, so we had to pay for a taxi. The first airport transfer driver was one hour and fifteen minutes late. Breakfast very basic, ie no toast with your scrambled eggs.
