Residence Inn by Marriott Charleston North/Ashley Phosphate

The Residence Inn is average or slightly below. I was told I would have a semi-private room with a sofa bed. In reality, the sofa was in a living room area right next to the kitchen, and the connecting door took up a lot of space. There was little to no privacy. I had to fold down and remake the sofa every night, and cut and bruised my legs because the frame was pure metal. Then again, I guess that's par for the course with most sofa beds, but I kind of felt like I was camping in a trailer. The housekeeping leaves something to be desired. Housekeepers don't come every day. When you call and ask, they may never show up. Housekeeping finally showed up on my second day. The lovely young girl they sent spoke no English. We had to communicate through Google Translate, and she refused to come in the door. She was also apparently told she could only change the trash in our room (???) Do housekeeping heads usually tell their staff things like that? The thermostat was iffy; I either froze or burned. The carpet is obviously worn and visibly dirty. Do not walk on bare feet. Overall, you'll get a bed and a bathtub, but that's about it.

Most things were great...nice room, good breakfast my only complaint was that some appliances during breakfast were broken (juice machine) and the water for tea was always lukewarm at best (had to microwave). These are just minor details, overall 4.5 stars out of 5. I would stay again.

Love the staff

We like Residence Inn rooms with equipped mini kitchens and space to relax. Building and rooms as a while were nice, but the elevators showed considerably wear. The breakfast was very sub-par to the point that we skipped it after the first morning. This was a surprise because usually Residence Inn breakfasts are very good (for being a hotel breakfast). We left the room around 10 each morning but never received room service. Not a biggie, was easy to get fresh towels at the desk, but it would have been nice to have the room freshened up during the week.

Very nice stay. There was a dirty towel over bathroom door on arrival. No daily cleaning service, which was okay but needed new towels. The rest of stay was great

The staff was really friendly. Room was mostly clean. There was some used soap left in the room from the last guest. The hotel itself doesn’t seem to be located in the best part of town, which I didn’t realize before booking. They said they have to keep all the doors to the building locked 24/7 for security. That was a little off putting traveling with two children. The breakfast Buffett was sufficient. Nothing exciting, but the kids did enjoy the waffle maker.

The staff was nice.

Everything else was terrible the room was very old and not well kept. No one came to clean or ask if we needed anything. The trash was all over the place outside the doors. Smoking outside the doors. It was gross

Quiet at all hours. Clean and comfortable. Good value for the $. Liability in the bathtub - very slippery. Someone will fall. Need a bathmat or something to create a rough surface.

The staff is very friendly and efficient. The facility and rooms are exceptionally clean as well. It was a great stay!

The front desk clerk was so compassionate and helpful.
