"Best gourmet experience!"

10.0

Best gourmet experience in South Africa! Babel Restaurant is fabulous and our hostess, Muranda, made everything beyond our expectations. Her knowledge of the menu and attention to details was superb. Highly recommended place! We would love to return!

"Pampered by Muranda’s care at Babel Restaurant"

10.0

We had a most gourmet dinner at Babel Restaurant in Babylonstoren in Franschoek - Cape Town - South Africa. The entire food experience and wine pairing was exquisite and excellent price / quality. We were further enchanted by the friendly, charming and knowledgeable reception from our host Muranda. Muranda pampered us and ensured we had a memorable experience. Definitely a Memory we will treasure and go back to!

The Fynbos cottages are amazingly comfortable and feel so private. The food and staff were exceptional as always.

If you travel with small children or babies know that the floors in the cottages creak a lot and you basically hear every sound you make in the whole house.

"It's always a special place to visit, maybe just not at Easter."

8.0

As always it is a a real treat to stay at this beautiful hotel and gardens.

have stayed at the hotel, twice before, in different cottages. This being my third. It was very busy being Easter Weekend, with lots of day visitors, I just felt that everyone was very busy, and you had to queue for everything that you were not able to book for, example lunch spots. It felt a bit rushed in everything that you did, in order to get the next bunch of people through. The waiters while very good were rushed and would not be as attentive as before, reminding them that we had ordered water. The bathrooms had no soap next to the two baths. Only 2 cream lotions, and no soap in the shower. The only soap was next to the basin. The shower only had body liquid soap. Nothing to wash yourself next to the baths. The bread making course, was actually just putting stuff onto bread that was already made. Which felt like a letdown, when you actually wanted to learn how to make bread not just throw some toppings on it. The lady who ran the course was wonderful and super helpful to any questions answered. With the money spent on the room, the meals, the wine and in the shop, we could have gone abroad. But as i say maybe it was just because it was the Easter weekend. As have always loved staying and will visit again.
