Funky Fish Beach & Surf Resort - Hostel

Great: staff, pool/deck/eating area, beds, rooms simple, but clean. Quiet and restful. Nice water and not a bad place to visit a few other islands from on day trips.

Totally geared up for surfers - good food and great staff, supper chilled and accommodating

Did not get a key despite requesting. Pool not available and not notified. Rodents. Trash on beach. Left a day earlier than reservation

Our stay at funky fish was very disappointing. It was nearly impossible to get any information or help from the staff and you feel stuck here because the manager controls all your boat transfers and that's the only way to do anything. My wife was served a moldy wrap on our second day for lunch and the staff acted like they knew it was moldy. The rooms are very minimal and the sheets had stains. The main common area wasn't enjoyable either because all the chairs and the pool felt dirty. If the surf conditions don't look good at tavarua, don't stay here under any condition.

Funky Fish was a great property to travel to while in Fiji. Great price point that includes all meals which I thought were good. Beautiful beach and pool area. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are simple but has everything you need especially when you will be spending most of your time in the common areas. I felt safe travelling alone here. There is a good hike to a nice viewpoint above the resort as well. The one thing that could be improved is communication around boat transfers to/from the island. Be aware that you may end up going to multiple stops before you stop at funky fish if you book through them - which was fine but good to be aware as it added an extra hour and a half onto the journey which wasn’t communicated very well.

We never got to funky fish as we were informed that there was a issue at the island so were told we were spending the night on beachcomber. So never got to funky fish

Affordable, chill, wonderful staff and just good vibes to really slow down if you're willing to go with the flow and embrace the bumpy boat rides! Fanatstic snorkelling and surfing options that you can boat out to and decent hiking areas. Really communal with other guests and staff. Big shout out to the staff when power was cut and they worked so hard to make sure everyone was comfortable as they worked through the night to have it restored. They were such legends.

The staff were amazing, always friendly and helpful. The view was incredible and the sound of the ocean made falling to sleep easy
