Hotel Royal Victoria, by R Collection Hotels

Staff were helpful with luggage and arranging taxi for us. View was really beautiful from my balcony.

Location and the way we suffered to reach the hotel. We came from mennagio by ferry to Varenna and thought we could walk to the hotel by following the lake trail as map suggested! Little did we know it took us to the back of hotel with lots of stairs to climb which was not possible with our luggages. We had to go back all the way to the ferry dock and call hotel for help. We paid additional for taxi but it was worth it as we definitely couldn't do it. I became sick due to exhaustion and cold weather and couldn't enjoy stay :(

We booked a prestige lakeview room with balcony. The view from the balcony was spectacular. The staff goes goes to great lengths to make guests feel welcome (the handwritten note from the management was a thrill). The concierge enthusiastically recommended local sights and restaurants, and our bartender Aziz was wonderful - warm, kind and a top-notch drink-maker! Breakfast was lovely, and the views toward the lake from the dining areas of the hotel are the stuff of dreams. Good central Varenna location, close to the boat dock and the nearby gardens and hiking attractions. The concierge managed to secure a table for us at Al Prato, where we had a truly amazing gourmet meal featuring local foods and specialties. Loved being at this hotel.

The shower was dangerously slick however it was rectified with a call. Hotel personnel quite compi Pizza place not so much and their food was below expect
