Red Roof Inn Williamsburg

I'm a 17th century re-enactor doing multiple events a year at Jamestown Settlement. Twice a year we're talking multi day stays, and the Red Roof is my favorite of two different motels along the US60 corridor in Williamsburg. The room is unbelievable: Everything in it is in such good condition that you'd swear the room had been refurbished sometime during the past month with all new furnishings (the age of the motel only starts to show when you're dealing with the tub and shower which, while nice and clean, do show the effects of years of running water). Will happily be back in November for Foods and Feasts.

This is not a complaint, but its presence floored me in an otherwise incredibly mint condition room: Off in the corner, next to the desk there's an armchair. Which I swear was picked up at the local dump and brought into the room by some former tenant, I cannot see management sticking this worn out piece of crap into an otherwise gorgeously furnished room. I ignored it, maybe used it as a footstool at one point while I was sitting at the desk. It didn't affect my stay in the slightest.

Air

Noise and slamming of doors traffic and broken phone jack hole in ceiling

The staff was so friendly and the location was good.

It was not cleaned at all. There was a huge ball of dog hair behind the bathroom door. The floors were gritty. We had to wear our shoes 👞

The location was good and the working at the front desk greeted me and helped me with directions to different places.

The breakfast could have been better and the shower pressure could be improved.
