Pensión San Joaquín

The interior of the building is beautiful. It's an older building with tiles, arches, and unique spaces. Our room was plain and simple, but it was fitting for the time period of the building. The street was quiet with a small balcony, and when it rained, we loved the traditional shuttered windows.

The shower and bathroom in general were quite small, but, again, it was fitting for the type of place. There wasn't always someone around for questions, etc., but messaging was good and we managed to connect when we needed to.

The hostel building itself was very charming with lovely courtyards, seating areas and Andalusian architecture. Sadly, my room had none of this charm and badly needed work done to it. Some floor tiles and tiles in the bathroom were cracked with botched attempts to seal them up evident. The paint was flaking off the walls. The room door polish was faded and the one to the bathroom could not close properly. The bathroom was small and poky with evidence of mould. The bed cover had a stain on it and when I asked to change it, I was given one with cigarette butt holes in them. Worst of all, I got bitten by bed bugs during my stay. In hindsight, I should have asked for another room. The guy at reception was friendly, but he seemed to be by himself and he clearly needed more staff to help him keep on top of things. I don't recommend this hostel.

No breakfast. Location ok. Building traditional Spanish look, attractive communal areas but bedrooms & bathrooms need a LOT of improvement.

Water leaking through bedroom ceiling when it rained. Only hand-held showers in bathrooms due to broken holders. Tiny bathroom, dirty bath, light bulbs missing, sink tap not fixed properly.

Si les parties communes et les patios sont très jolis, la chambre que j’ai eue, la 105 ( et non pas la 501 comme indiqué sur le porte-clés) est vraiment vétuste : la literie est en fin de vie, la salle de bain aussi ( j’ai dû faire couler l’eau 3 bonnes minutes avant qu’elle ne devienne tiède puis ensuite trop chaude), la TV inutilisable et la vue sur un squat avec une vour qui est à moitié une décharge publique… Bref, pas terrible du tout. J’y ai cependant pas trop mal dormi et pour 46€ je dirais que c’est pas le pire rapport qualité prix du monde mais avec un minimum d’effort et d’investissement cette chambre pourrait être plus agréable.

An interesting old building with good communal space. Good location

Our two single rooms very small and cramped, adequate for sleeping in but not much else. Furniture basic and worn. Bathroom drains smelly, though shower worked and water hot. Staff helpful, one gentleman in particular very kind.
