It was great for our extended family group

We were delighted with the cottage, a very quiet relaxing rural setting, all well looked after and a variety of animals which we enjoyed. The cottage was roomy, well equipped and cosy, a large outdoor deck where if sunny and warm would be a pleasant place to relax.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

The accomodation we stayed at was superb and up to high standards. Great rooms and space.

We didn't have curtains in the main room/living room and had to cover it ourselves for privacy during the night. The accomodation was honestly amazing and a 10/10. We were amazed by how tidy and modern the place was. Moreover we were very excited at the beginning because it was advertised as pet friendly and we were staying with our dogs. However, after staying and leaving the property we were shocked by one of the staff's reaction and the way she communicated with us. We stayed with our two golden retrievers which prior to booking, I rang and asked about their pet policy and made it known that we have two goldens. Pet accidents are always expected and we did try our best to clean up - we also couldn't control the fact that our dogs shed a lot. We were called by one of the staff numerous times about trashing the place and letting the dogs on the bed etc when we never did - it was just their fur that probably got on the bed unintentionally. They advertised as pet friendly but we were told "if I had known your dogs were going to trash the place I wouldn't have welcomed you". We were told police were going to get involved and that we would have to pay extra for the mess we left which we didn't mind but what was disappointing was how the staff communicated to me, very rude and disrespectful. If she had just mentioned in the beginning that we needed to pay extra, we would have in an instance. Instead she talked about involving the police, banning me on all accomodation websites etc. In my opinion, don't advertise as pet friendly when dogs aren't even tolerated. Accidents can happen and its not intended by pet owners. In the first place, I did ring before making a booking and was told there was no pet policy except for having them on lead outside.

A lovely studio in a beautiful spot! Comfy bed, well appointed kitchen area, warm shower with great pressure, and lovely hosts. A really perfect dog friendly spot! We will definitely be back next time we are in Hawkes Bay 😊
