La Soffitta e La Torre

Beautiful room, quiet, good shower, air conditioning, friendly hosts - everything was great!

Great location and the host is delightful. Prepare to have cash for the city tax. We experienced a fair amount of noise from the surrounding area and the sound and light entering our room each time another guest came or went. The bed is VERY firm

L'affittacamere si trova in centro ad Orvieto. La camera era con vista su piazza del Popolo In 15 minuti a piedi si raggiunge la funicolare che porta alla stazione ferroviaria. Non presente un ascensore per raggiungere le camere. Esse si trovano al terzo piano, ma non è stato un problema! All'arrivo in struttura siamo stati ben accolti dalla proprietaria che ci ha dato le informazioni per poter entrare e uscire in autonomia. La camera, pulita, era arredata con uno stile vintage ma in linea con il bellissimo palazzo. Presente la tv e la possibilità di usare il frigo e la macchina del caffè in comune. Nella stanza c'era il ventilatore a soffitto e il climatizzatore. Il bagno pulito con i flaconi con shampoo e il dosatore col sapone per le mani (ottima scelta dal punto di vista ambientale).

The location and the people running it were excellent. They accomodated my early check in time, and carried my luggage up and down the many stairs, as it was quite heavy. There was a fridge in a common area to use, and a common seating area for visiting/eating. My view was great (of the piazza) and it was easy to do things from this location. The hosts also gave me a ride to the train because I had such heavy luggage!

I didn’t like all the stairs, and the repairs going on in the stairwell, one morning I accidentally put my hand on the railing and got a handful of cement! Also the bed was too hard for my comfort. The stairwell issue was temporary and will probably be great when finished.

Room was a well-maintained in a medieval building dating from the 1300s. Ancient timber and brick ceilings. Thrilling for Canadians used to only modern buildings. Fun to sit by the window and watch the action in the ancient square below. Hostess was very friedly and helpful and fluent in French, as well as Italian.

On our way from the Amalfi Coast to Florence, we chose Orvieto—a medieval town with fewer tourists—as our overnight stop, and this has become a wonderful experience. How special to stay in a thousand-year-old house in the center of a peaceful and beautiful old town! Nestled in Orvieto’s historical center—just a 3-minute walk from the Duomo—this 1200-year-old gem blends ancient charm with modern comfort. With free parking from 22:00 to 8:00 and paid parking available at only €1.60 per hour from 8:00 to 22:00 right under the house at the square, its location is very convenient and practical. The host—a lovely, cheerful lady with a worldly spirit—went out of her way to accommodate our late check-in, and she was very nice to prepare some toasts and jams for us as breakfast. Highly recommend this special place!
