Malapasqua island is very nice and the place you should stay is at or near the main beach. Moonlight resort is not so nice situated as you have motorbikes running in front of the resort and also you have to walk 15 min to get to the nice beach and restaurants. There are some good restaurants on the island but not Moonlight. The room was smelly and the Fan/Aircon did not work. Do not expect to much. The positive was that there was warm water to have a shower. Wifi was not working on the island (not only Moonlight) when I was there. The resort is Philippine standard not European although run by an Austrian who I have never seen during my stay.
Moonlight Resort is located quite far away from the beach and on the opposite side of the village where everything is going on at Malapascua. The map doesn't quite show this so the location was to me a surprise. But if you want to stay secluded and quit this is the perfact place.
If you're on a budget then this 5 room resort is for you. It's clean, quite & the resort care-taker is very friendly. The aircon works fine and the wi-fi connection was fine on my iPhone so better stay in the reception area for better connection. This is not a beach-front resort as what Expedia presented when you take a look at the map it says that it's near Ocean Vida Resort in Bounty beach and in reality it's actual farther than Mangrove Oriental Resort almost in the middle of the island. And I was not happy with the continental breakfast that was added on the booking since you only get to eat 2 slices of bread, butter, strawberry jam & a coffee or milo of your choice. I was expecting some egg, cheese, rice & some fruits. But the place is safe and electricity works 24 hours.
If you want a relaxing time to lay back and do nothing this is the place. That is about all you can do as it is not close to a beach or anthing else for that matter. Not at all like their web site shows. The ladies in the small restaurant are very nice and pleasant.
Very clean room, friendly help. Excellent food. The only downside is it is not a beachside resort, but the beach is within walking distance and if you are snorkeling or doing other rentals it does not matter so much anyhow.
