Hotel Petén Express

Hotel Peten is located on the Isla de Flores, just in front of the lake. I loved waking up in the morning and having breakfast in front of it, while reading my book. A special mention to the breakfast; you get to choose between different options, which include American Breakfast, Guatemaltecan Breakfast, and Pancakes. I also booked my trip to Tikal via reception. As I booked the 4:30 am tour, and I could not have breakfast, they prepared me a lunch bag to take with me made of a sandwich, fresh fruit salad and a pack of biscuits. Just for your own knowledge: you cannot bring food inside the national park - only fresh fruits like bananas, apples, and packed snacks like crackers.

I booked a bed in the common dorm, but the area around it wasn’t exceptionally cleaned. The bed itself was fine, but the surrounding area was dirty. The swimming pool could also have been cleaner.

Personal muy amable. Limpio, con muy buena vista y piscina hacia el lago. Empacan desayuno para llevar si tienes una excursión muy temprano. Muy recomendando el lugar

-privates Bad im Vierbett-Schlafsaal -alle Betten hatten einen Vorhang und man hatte seine Privatsphäre -die Zimmer waren sehr sauber -sehr ansprechende Poolarea (innen und außen) -das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit

Frühstück war im Preis inbegriffen, jedoch viel zu wenig.

It was in the center of the island. Easily accessible, nice pool area and restaurant. Staff was nice. They prepared food for my early journey.

The hostel room is extremely outdated. The beds and lockers look like 30 years old. The smell in the room is horrible because it’s old AC device probably which gives this smell of wet room. I really had big trouble to fall asleep. Zero social vibe. Bathroom dirty, no hanger to put clothes or towel. I stayed in more than 100 hostels in my life this one is “hotel” with dorm rooms but it was clearly one of the worst places I’ve stayed at. Especially that on the pictures it looked nice so I really fell for it.
