Hôtel du Lion d'Or

Historical old family run hotel with artefacts displayed throughout the hotel. Full of character with a lovely garden area which has a family of turtles!.The food is excellent..traditional french food cooked very well . Highly recommended to stay if you visit the beautiful town of Cauterets.

3 ème séjour au lion d'or, le dernier datant de 9 ans plus tôt; mais toujours cet immense plaisir de retrouver cette famille unie à la tête de cet établissement ! ils ont le sourire sur les lèvres et dans leur voix! quelle gentillesse, toujours dans l'attention tout en respectant les attentes de chaque hôte! Et la cuisine: tout est fait maison, un pur délice avec un coup de cœur pour la compote de pomme à la cannelle -:)) propreté irréprochable! un grand merci à la dame s'occupant des chambres( le temps du petit déj )car elle ordonnait même les peluches de mon fils! situation parfaite pour les randonnées et parking public à l'arrière accessible très facilement Bref: Un hôtel plein de charme, où l'on se sent "en famille" cocooné par une ambiance très chaleureuse et...non feinte contrairement à certain 3 étoiles...

We stayed in this lovely establishment for three nights. The staff were super friendly and helpful which was an added delight. We had the breakfast each day which was delicious. My husband was a big fan of the fresh orange juice machine. A great start to our day. We enjoyed one. evening meal which changes daily. It was generous and delicious.Thank you to All the staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience.

This is a quaint hotel close to a lot of restaurants and shops. We were there in June, so it was off season. Lots of places were closed but the hotel itself was great!

What a beautiful hotel. The Lady at the front desk, (I assume she was the owner ) was fabulous.cShe prepared an amazing meal for dinner and also hosted a fabulous breakfast the next morning. The room had everything you would need.

Excellent cocktails and food!

This hotel was all about charm and kindness, a journey into the past that despite some winding routes to our room and tight spots only made the hotel more charming. If you want Holiday Inns, this is not for you. If you love charm and kindness and appreciation of history, stay here.
