Hilton at St George's Park, Burton Upon Trent

Amazing hotel! The spa facilities were outstanding. Though hot tub was never avaliable but plenty else to use. Breakfast was excellent lots of choice. Even a pancake station for the kids. Executive lounge amazing.

You have to pre book your pool slot before arrival which i didn't know about but luckily I managed to book a slot for that evening so all was good.

Location, theme and Hotel is great. We always stay here. Kids have a great time.

There were three main things that made me rethink staying here again in the future. 1. We were in the bar for food and drinks on our first night. It was pretty quiet, so I asked if the football could be turned on. No problem — the bartender put it on for us. About 10 minutes later, the football was switched to another game, and two members of staff started moving seats to the right of me for three other guests, one of whom was an England footballer. The footballer loudly said, “I’ve got them to put the other game on.” I then asked the bartender why it had been changed, and they simply said it was because someone wanted the other game on. It felt like the England player was being given priority over paying guests, and that staff were unwilling to challenge them. I couldnt believe it when i challenged them 2. We hired the 3G pitch for an hour one morning, as it has to be booked in advance. However, another family turned up and started using the pitch as well. When this was raised with the male staff member at the front desk, there was no real response — just a shrug. 3. We purchased an England football from reception after my son’s ball had popped. We asked the front desk if they could pump it up, but they said they couldn’t. I found it odd that such a major England training hotel sells footballs but has no way of inflating them, especially as we have had a ball pumped up there before. As a result, we couldn’t use the 3G pitch properly. We checked out and left feeling pretty deflated, questioning whether we would ever return. Which is sad really, because overall we spent hundreds of pounds in the bar each night as a family during our stay.

Modern and welcoming

No water bottles in the room, for 200.00 for one night I expected something complimentary.

The site was very impressive. You wouldn’t stay here if you weren’t playing in a tournament or using the football grounds.

The staff weren’t very friendly, it was quite busy as there was a tournament on but most of the drinks and bar snacks were sold out. The dinner and breakfast buffet were so busy and lots of items again not available - like waffles that were advertised. There was no mini bar or even biscuits with the coffee and tea in the room. Nowhere to get drinks or snacks and a 90 min wait for room service. Would not come back. Staff were also quite rigid with check in times and you had to pre book the swimming pool.
