"A short but enjoyable stay, would definitely recommend!"

8.0

A lovely welcome from the owners. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment during my stay so I couldn't eat in the restaurant or have a drink in the bar, hopefully next time! The room was quiet and a decent size, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had a small but excellent shower. A small but modern TV in the room meant I could connect my firestick or cast from my phone. Plenty on street parking directly outside the hotel.

"The hotel is lovely, family run and excellent food, great staff, very friendly atmosphere."

7.0

The food was excellent and the breakfast staff and evening staff were excellent. Our room (8) was very nice, clean and had good facilities for our stay. Also found the prices very competitive, menu had a nice amount of choices on it and the bar offered a wide range of everything. Comfortable seating and very clean.the breakfast room has just been refurbished and is lovely.

Unfortunately the water pressure wasn't very good and the water was only warm,so we couldn't have a hot shower, which was disappointing. The bed was good for sitting up on,but to sleep on was very hard and uncomfortable.i have bad hips and woke up several times in pain,so didn't get much rested sleep over the 2 nights, neither did my husband as he has a sore shoulder and found it hard to get comfortable.

"Great location, lovely staff, good value."

10.0

The staff are friendly, and because they are also the hotel owners, they don’t need to ask anyone higher up for authorisation to help you out. The location is great, right on the historic High Street, with free parking and numerous shops and cafes around. The restaurant was closed for renovation when I was there but I’ve heard it is very good. The rooms had great lighting, for working, make-up and reading in bed. There were plenty of power sockets and everything was well thought out. I slept so well!

That I couldn’t stay longer!

We had dinner and breakfast at The Star and both were great home cooked meals. The Star is a quirky building and a great little place in a quaint town. We would definitely come back again.
