Schloss Prielau Hotel & Restaurants

Castle and grounds were beautiful, peaceful and well appointed. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Wifi availability in the Fisher House would have been nice.

Schloss Prielau may market itself as a four-star luxury hotel in a historic setting, but our experience—particularly in the Fisherman’s Lodge—was far from what anyone should expect at this price point. What was promised as a charming and well-appointed stay turned out to be disorganized, unclean, and astonishingly unprofessional. From the start, the service was subpar. When we arrived, the front desk was unstaffed. We rang the bell and waited several minutes before someone eventually arrived—not a receptionist, but a staff member from the restaurant who was clearly in a rush and visibly irritated to be pulled away. While we attempted to ask basic questions about the stay, another restaurant employee interrupted us mid-conversation to summon him back. It was rude, abrupt, and set the tone for what would be a frustrating stay. We had also submitted a dinner reservation request for the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, Mayer’s, but had received no confirmation by the time we checked in. We raised this, and were told it would be “taken care of.” No follow-up ever came. Without a confirmation, we opted to eat in town instead. Time is valuable when traveling, and the risk of showing up unconfirmed at an upscale restaurant outside the city center was not one we were willing to take. Shortly after check-in, we walked to the lobby again hoping to enjoy a drink and a snack at the hotel’s more casual restaurant. We rang the bell twice and waited five minutes. No one appeared to greet or seat us, and once again the front desk was completely unmanned. We gave up and left. The Fisherman’s Lodge itself was shockingly underwhelming. It is unmarked—one of three nondescript buildings with no signage or indication that it is a guest accommodation. It looked like a storage shed, and sadly, the inside didn’t feel much different.

The hotel is in an old schloss, very cozy and comfy. The staff is helpful and breakfast was very nice. Worth staying a couple of nights.

This is a fantastic place - so many interesting things to look at, such history, and yet really high quality accommodation, service and food, in a wonderful setting near the lake.

It was faultless

I enjoyed every aspect of my stay. Sleeping in a 400-year-old castle that feels cozy made the experience even more special. The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were lovely, providing excellent service. I would choose this place time and time again. The fireplace in the room added to its charm, and the sauna was also very nice!
